Kelonn, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
If I must be honest, I get my resilience from my previous ancestors, my Parents and mainly older relatives.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a young entrepreneur from Dallas,Tx. I decided to start up my brand back in 2019 to try a new investment idea out that had been brewing in my mind for a few years prior to actually launching the brand. I’m also involved with 5 different companies doing FreeLance Contract based Audio/Video Work in the Entertainment/Music industry. In my spare time I make tons of Hip hop/ R&B based beats , and I’m also working on growing a following for my Beats page @TycoonKeloBeats! I’m getting back into breeding Dogs and the choice of dog is the “American Bully”. So I guess it’s just safe to say I’m a “True Entrepreneur”, and I love the thought and process of creating things myself and adding it to the world and possibly gaining funds from pure skills.
I’m currently working on my fall releases as we speak . I’ve got plans to release new Sweaters, Long sleeves, Hoodies, Truck hats and maybe a few surprise products that I can’t mention at the moment. I also may release more sock colors this winter to bring those cozy vibes in the right way!
I would say my Brand has several qualities that makes it special and stand out from others. To name a few I’d start with the fact that I strongly practice “Brand Authenticity” meaning I try to respond to everyone’s comments and I always give a true response especially if I personally know the supporter. Most brands these days don’t show true appreciation to their supporters, in my Brand I make sure I reach out to every supporter and either shout them out on the story or they’d get an Official Personal Post on the Instagram and Facebook Brand page. I believe these are things that have over the years stood out and been recognized by my supporters.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back I’d say me having a strong ambition to be successful was one of the biggest pushes that I personally locked in on when I first started everything and just never let the vision get cloudy. Secondly I’d say me being brave is what got me to where I am today within my clothing business etc, because there were times I almost wanted to quit and times where things just didn’t make any sense but me being brave kept me on track through the crazy times. Lastly skill wise I’d say I just had to have an overall understanding of business and be really savvy with numbers and I pretty much became my own accounting and it’s actually been going smooth.
Being patient with myself and the growth of the brand is what’s kept me motivated this entire time though.
As far as the people who are thinking of starting a new journey , a piece of advice id give would be to never lose track of the vision YOU personally set and see. When you’re trying to start something new it can seem like the most important people In your life let you down by not paying any attention to the idea or realizing it’s true worth and what it could turn into, but you’ve gotta basically tune those feelings out and remind yourself that YOU started it and YOU are always in control .. lastly you only have to be right 1 time after that it gets easier !
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
This is a super easy one to answer. I would have to say my Mother and Dad, then my family has always been here to actually support me also through all endeavors I’ve faced on this journey.
