Meet Kelsey Hogan

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kelsey Hogan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kelsey, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Working in the digital realm as a social media manager offers me an expansive canvas for creativity to truly flourish! I like to think of myself as a digital artist, telling stories through the content I create – both the graphic design as well as the copywriting.

It’s key to always remain curious! I spend time exploring new platforms, studying and testing out emerging trends, and immersing myself in the ever-evolving landscape that is social media.

Social media is so fast-paced, there’s always room for new ideas, and plenty of inspiration if you’re ever feeling stuck.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the founder and chief strategy director of Small Batch Social Co. – a Detroit-based digital marketing boutique for (mostly) female-driven brands. Our mission is to transform ambitious brands and individuals into digital trailblazers by crafting bespoke social media strategies that redefine industry standards.

Through meticulous artistry and strategic innovation, we curate unparalleled online experiences that resonate, captivate, and drive meaningful connections. Our commitment to delivering high-ticket, personalized solutions reflects our dedication to elevating brands to new heights of influence, authenticity, and impact in the digital landscape. We believe in crafting narratives that inspire, strategies that resonate, and results that transcend expectations.

Together, we pave the way for a future where uniqueness thrives, engagement soars, and success knows no bounds.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three areas of expertise that have helped establish and solidify my professional foundation are:

1.) Experience! I don’t take lightly what I learned working a corporate job, running events, and managing PR for top national brands. While this was in a different “lifetime”, it’s all part of the symphony of transformation that brought me to where I am today. Work hard, and you will prosper. I promise!

2.) Relationship building: To this day, a good portion of my clients are referrals via word of mouth. Creating relationships over the course of my 15 years in the industry has been paramount to my success. You never know who you’re going to run into down the line. It’s great to have friends in all sorts of places.

3.) Finally – the skill of storytelling is something that I use every single day. I first learned this when I was crafting ideas to “pitch” to media as a junior PR maven. Now, I’m using storytelling to weave the story of the brands I work with across their social media. Storytelling is an age-old tradition that we need to celebrate more; it’s at the heart of all sales and marketing.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking to collab! As a social media agency, we’re constantly working with brands to help elevate their social media presence. Our primary client niche is female-driven product or service based brands in areas across lifestyle, real estate, wellness, health, hospitality, motherhood, beauty, fashion, medicine, and more.

On the flip side, I’m always partnering with businesses for the brands I work with. Whether it’s putting together a local Instagram giveaway, or seeking sponsors for a female empowerment event, relationship building and networking (i.e. – collaborating) is part of my every day.
