Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kelsey Pilgram. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kelsey , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
That’s the age old question. One of the questions that gets burned into our brains, especially as women I find this to be even more true.
It took me a long time to figure this out. I always thought that I had to push myself into a brink. Be the best, do incredible things or just try a little harder, then maybe I would find value.
When in reality, what gave me my purpose was trusting that part of myself to God. He gave me purpose when I am a faithful woman. To honor my husband and faithfully guard my children. Raise them up following the light. When I let go of myself and poured my soul into my family…my purpose was revealed. God had it perfectly laid out for me. There is no question of my worth or purpose. It is written in stone by my Creator.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Even as a child, I have always loved cooking and or baking. However, I wasn’t very good. I remember one time trying to make strawberry stuffed french toast…except it was sandwich bread with raw strawberries sandwiched between them. Not super pleasant.
I didn’t really pursue any cooking experience until I had people needing me. My husband and children needed to eat and I immersed myself in it. I humbly will say now that I have become fairly good. After much, much practice.
I really try to use all organic ingredients. Organic Heritage Flour has been my newest adventure. Some of the best flour, next to milling fresh. Organic Sourdough Breads are my favorite thing to make and it’s been a huge hit. I am hoping to build a farm store with my husband on our homestead next spring!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
If someone were me looking to improve a skill, I would ask them what drives them. For me, it was my family and caring for the souls God gave me to shepherd. I didn’t want frozen pizza and hamburger helper every night.
I also would search for something you enjoy! Each of us is made unique in that way. Full of promise and talent, all different!

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
I would spend it doing what I am already doing. Loving my husband fully and with intent. That I would leave this earth well. That I would instill faith in my children so that they know which way to go. I would continue to care for my home and pour my heart into it.
