Meet Kelyn Henry

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kelyn Henry a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kelyn, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

As an esthetician and skincare expert, self-care is not just a routine; it’s a vital part of my daily life. I start each day with a skincare regimen that includes my Oxygen Cleanser, which deeply cleanses and rejuvenates my skin, followed by the Ginseng Mineral Toner to balance and prep my skin for the day. I also use Rapid 7 to target any hyperpigmentation and maintain a glowing complexion, finishing with my Herbal Silk Moisturizer to lock in hydration.

This routine keeps my skin healthy and radiant and centers me for the day ahead. Taking that morning to care for my skin helps me feel more confident and focused, directly impacting my effectiveness with clients. It allows me to stay grounded and present, ensuring I give my best to every person who comes to me for their skincare needs. I can be a better esthetician and more effective business owner by prioritizing my self-care.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

As an esthetician specializing in corrective skincare and beauty transformations, I help men and women regain their confidence by addressing skin concerns like dark spots, oily skin, acne, and signs of aging. I combine my passion for skincare with a deep understanding of personalized beauty, using science-backed products and holistic practices to create transformative experiences for my clients.

What excites me most about my work is seeing my clients’ transformations, not just in their skin but in their confidence and overall well-being. Skincare is more than just treating the skin; it’s about nurturing oneself, which I aim to deliver with my brand, K Cherin Studio/Beauty. My skincare line, featuring products like the Rapid 7 Dark Spot Serum, Oxygen Cleanser, Ginseng Mineral Toner, and Herbal Silk Moisturizer, is designed to provide practical, plant-based solutions for various skin concerns. My top sellers, like Rapid 7 and Herbal Silk Moisturizer, are loved for their ability to deliver accurate, visible results.

I’m excited to announce several upcoming events and offerings for those looking for something new. This October, we’re hosting the Fall Glow & Facial Oil Workshop, where attendees can learn to make custom facial oils while exploring our full-sized products. Through my services, products, and events, I aim to inspire self-care, confidence, and empowerment and help everyone embrace their best selves inside and out.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey as an esthetician, entrepreneur, and skincare expert, the three most impactful qualities and skills that have shaped my path are **passion for continuous learning, strong client relationships,** and **adaptability.**

1. **Passion for Continuous Learning:** Trends and techniques constantly evolve in the beauty and skincare industry. I’ve prioritized staying updated on the latest advancements in skincare science, ingredients, and treatments. This helps me provide the best services to my clients and informs the development of my skincare line. For those starting their journey, my advice is never to stop learning. Attend workshops, take courses, and seek mentorship. Knowledge is power and will set you apart in this competitive field.

2. **Strong Client Relationships:** Building genuine relationships with clients is at my heart. It’s important to listen to their needs, educate them about their skin, and provide solutions that align with their goals. Trust and communication are vital to creating a loyal client base. For newcomers, focus on your soft skills—empathy, listening, and communication are as crucial as technical skills. Make each client feel valued, and they will keep coming back.

3. **Adaptability:** The beauty industry is dynamic, and adapting quickly to new challenges and trends has been essential for my growth. Whether introducing new services like lash and brow laminations or pivoting to virtual consultations, staying flexible has allowed me to meet my clients’ evolving needs. I advise those early in their journey to remain open-minded and be willing to pivot when necessary. Embrace change as an opportunity for growth, and always think about how you can innovate in your space.

Focusing on these three areas—continuous learning, building strong client relationships, and being adaptable—can set a solid foundation for a successful career in beauty and skincare. Remember, your journey is unique, so trust in your process and always strive to be the best version of yourself.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

One of my most significant challenge right now is transitioning from my brick-and-mortar spa space to a home-based setup. It has been an unexpected shift, and while it has come with its own set of difficulties—like reimagining my service offerings, managing client expectations, and creating a professional atmosphere at home—it has also been a period of growth and reflection.

Losing my physical location initially felt like a setback, but it has opened up new opportunities to connect with my clients more intimately and create a more personalized experience. I’ve had to rethink how I deliver services, including virtual consultations and curated at-home skincare kits featuring my product line, to ensure that my clients still receive the same care and expertise.

I advise anyone going through a similar transition to stay resilient and be open to reinventing how you deliver value. It’s about finding new ways to thrive, even in the face of change, and staying connected to your purpose. Challenges are inevitable, but they often push us to innovate and grow unexpectedly.
