Meet Kendra Harman

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kendra Harman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kendra below.

Kendra , we are so deeply grateful to you for opening up about your journey with mental health in the hops that it can help someone who might be going through something similar. Can you talk to us about your mental health journey and how you overcame or persisted despite any issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.

As someone with bipolar type 2, I’ve had to get really comfortable with taking accountability—making amends, apologizing, and asking for forgiveness. That’s not always easy because it requires setting aside my ego, but I’ve learned that growth only happens when one willing to face themselves honestly.

One of the biggest surprises in my entrepreneurial journey has been how humbling it is. The high highs and the very low lows—those don’t feel too foreign to me. But unlike in past corporate or office jobs, where I often felt trapped, running my own business has given me the freedom to build a life that works with my mental health, not against it. I’m in a better place now than I ever was before, and I hope to keep my passions and dreams alive for as long as I can.

That said, I still struggle. It’s easy to get discouraged, compare myself to others online, and wonder if I’m truly making an impact in a sea of sameness. But I remind myself that my path is mine alone—no one else’s. Success isn’t about being the loudest or the most followed; it’s about staying true to what I love, showing up consistently, and trusting that my work will find the right people. And as long as I keep going, I’m already winning.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Something I’ve found myself pivoting toward in business are the things I’m most passionate about: community, local business, crafting, and trinkets!

Let me explain! Old Soul Revival started as a shop that didn’t have a clear direction—I sold a little bit of everything. But over time, I found my true love in the smallest, fun trinkets and celebrating the joy of crafting, reusing, and secondhand finds. Now, OSR is not just a shop but an experience. I’ve started hosting local workshops and community gatherings for those who love junk journaling, Pinterest craft nights, and connecting with their neighbors. It’s all about fostering creativity, sustainability, and shared experiences.

To further celebrate community and small businesses, I launched Local Revival Market, a community market based in Avondale, Arizona, hosted by First Baptist Church Garden Lakes. I saw a need for something fun and local in the West Valley, and I also wanted to create a space where new and emerging small businesses could get their footing in markets and events. Starting a business from a place of love and sharing it with the world is both exciting and terrifying, and these makers and entrepreneurs inspire me every day.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding these community-driven projects—growing Old Soul Revival as a hub for creative workshops and unique trinkets, and making Local Revival Market a staple event for the West Valley’s small business scene.

At the heart of everything I do is connection—whether it’s through vintage, crafting, or entrepreneurship. I want to bring people together, create meaningful experiences, and celebrate the beauty of what we can make and share with one another.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, adaptability, and community-building.
1. Resilience – Entrepreneurship is full of highs and lows, and it’s easy to get discouraged, especially in a crowded market. I’ve had to learn how to keep going even when things feel slow, when sales dip, or when I compare myself to others. The best way to build resilience was to detach my self-worth from immediate success. My value wasn’t in my numbers—it’s in the consistency of my efforts and the impact I’ve create over time.
2. Adaptability – Nothing ever goes exactly as planned in business. Algorithms change, trends shift, and what worked yesterday might not work tomorrow. I’ve had to pivot multiple times, whether in how I market Old Soul Revival or my newest local market Local Revival Market. My advice? Stay curious. Learn new skills, test different strategies, and don’t be afraid to evolve. The more adaptable you are, the more sustainable your business will be.
3. Community-Building – No one succeeds alone. Some of my biggest wins have come from collaborations, friendships, and simply showing up and supporting others. Whether it’s online networking, local markets, or just engaging with like-minded people, building genuine relationships opens doors. If you’re early in your journey, don’t just focus on selling—focus on connecting. Be present, be kind, and be someone others want to work with. People need people need people. Competition is apart of business, but don’t let it stop you from making great connections, acquaintances, and even friendships.

At the end of the day, success isn’t just about having the best product or service—it’s about having the perseverance to keep going, the flexibility to grow, and the people who believe in you along the way.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely! I love collaborating with like-minded entrepreneurs, creatives, and small businesses who align with my values of sustainability, storytelling, and community impact.

For Old Soul Revival, I’m always looking to connect with:
• Local vintage curators, small makers, and sustainable brands for markets, pop-ups, or joint projects.
• Small business owners in the resale or secondhand space who want to build community over competition.
• Nonprofits or organizations supporting mental health, human trafficking recovery, or underserved communities—I’d love to explore partnerships where my business can contribute in a meaningful way.
•. Creatives and crafters who would like to collaborate with workshops and community gatherings

For Local Revival Market
•. Local West Valley creators and small businesses to spread the word about the NEWEST local community market
•. Small businesses who need help getting started with their online presence. Arizona permit and licensing. What are yours needs to help you get going?
