We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kendra Hood. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kendra below.
Hi Kendra, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my family. I come from a family of hard workers on both sides. Whether it’s going to work everyday or operating a business; my family works hard at everything they do.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I creator and operator of Plez-Her Novelties. The most special thing about Plez-Her Novelties is being able to connect with customers and helping them discover their needs and finding the perfect product for that need. A few months ago, we launched new limited edition colors of the Plez-Her Box and currently working on bigger sizes for those with larger collections. Stay tuned for classes and local events too.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The things that were impactful in my journey would be being consistent, reading/seeking information, and patience. Being consistent allowed me to learn new ways of doing business and grow. Reading and seeking information is always important because when you stop learning, you stop growing. Patience showed me how to appreciate things as they unfold before me. I’d advise people to be consistent with their work, learn patience because you will appreciate the hard work you’ve put it, and always be teachable this will help you maintain and improve your skills.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Being an entrepreneur is very overwhelming. There are days where it’s not as bad, but on those days that are I take time away from whatever task or idea is overwhelming me. I would advise to create a list of tasks to complete for the week, and divide the task by day. Each day should have 3-5 tasks, about half of the tasks should be challenging and the rest are easy to do. The key to this is completing the hard or time consuming tasks first, so when you are overwhelmed you can tackle the easier tasks and reset.
