Meet Kendra Sharpe

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kendra Sharpe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kendra, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose by getting out in the world and DOING. I have always loved fashion and pop culture but never really saw it as a career until I started picking up freelance work styling I knew this was the job for me. It meshed everything together that I love to do. I love working with people and helping them feel good in their clothes, seeing a creative vision come together, and seeing art come to life. I knew it was my purpose when I got that feeling inside that made me so happy and I felt like I was on a high. There was no feeling like that one and I was ready to see where that feeling could take me if I nurtured it and connected with my peers and started to do the work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a personal and commercial wardrobe stylist who helps redefine the power of style for unique women and iconic brands. I help women learn how to use their style as a tool and to help brands feel empowered with style in mind. In short, I help people discover their unique personal style and help brands on set with seeing their vision through and bringing their product or service to life! I am in the middle of launching a new live series and a website with new services and signature packages for helping improve your image and feel your best.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I think my skills as someone who has used style as a driving force in my life has helped me move my business forward. I love the fact that the backbone of my business is my personal style itself. If I don’t have a good style, then how can I get prospective clients to want to trust me with theirs? So, having style helps!

Overall, I think my personal skills have also help me feel that this job is important work for me to do. I love connecting with people and seeing their faces light up when they find something they love.

I think if you want to do something or try a new job, to just network and ask questions or research. Seek out people who do what you want to do and mirror them. Take their experiences and make it your own and turn your unique perspective into your own way of doing your passion. Try new things and see what sticks.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who values their image and is ready for a change for the better. I love helping people and brands have a new perspective on life with their style in mind. It helps you enter the room with more confidence and also makes you a more vibrant person when what you are wearing speaks to you. Ideally, clients who are ready for a change in their lives as far as a wardrobe refresh or revamp, someone who has an event coming up that they want to look their best for, or someone who needs a full closet clean out and is ready to start fresh. The limits are endless! For brands, I help with on set efforts with wardrobe or for small businesses I help with creative ideas on how to market their product or service with unique and fun imagery or video. I help my business clients bring their vision to life on how they want to present their brand to the world.
