Kendrick, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I First Had to Find out who Kendrick is and why I exist on this earth . Finding my purpose , had to begin with accepting who I am , accepting all my flaws . I didn’t just wake up and start modeling and being creative with my craft , standing out. I had to figure out what fits me and what goes with my flow. Everything isn’t for everybody , and you have to know that is okay. I had to be okay with that , what is for me is for me and not everybody can get with that . My Purpose is to be Kendrick and no one can take my purpose away.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello , My Name Is Kendrick Nelson , I reside in the beautiful city of Charlotte NC, I am a Professional Male Model and upcoming photographer. I”ve been In the Fashion industry for 5 consistent years . I”ve been apart of numerous fashion weeks , selected for hundreds of campaign shoots ex: Wells Fargo , United rentals , Calvin Klein , and the list goes on .The exciting thing about being in the industry of fashion , is that being unique and creative , allows room for you with whatever you do or where ever you go. I’ve learned that about myself , and at some point of time I use to compare myself to other artist in the industry , asking and questioning myself on why i”m not here ? or , How they get to do this or that and we’ve given same time and opportunity . But I’ve made up in my mind and realized , being your own self ,will always push you into greatness. With that being said , i take my craft seriously and not so focused on being perfect at what i do but making sure i am still growing and becoming better at what i do. My main focus with my profession is to really build a legacy ,to inspire other upcoming artists,models and others that is apart of this industry of fashion ,To …just…. DO IT!!!!!! Bring forth whatever vision or dream you have because its not just a focus for me , but its a movement I encourage others to be apart of . To move others to be their authentic self , UNAPOLOGETICALLY!!!! No matter what race you are , no matter what gender you are , no matter the difference in religion ,we are all one and those things might bring division , but i believe in the power of love that it will bring us all together as one. Many Don’t have The confidence to actually follow their dreams and it makes me really sad , That some are afraid to be themselves. Being a Photographer and Model , Whether I’m behind the camera or in front of The Camera , Being able to bring What’s in Mind To Reality , Is such a Powerful thing to do , It brings the definition of Whatever You Put Your Mind towards will happen , Especially when you’re heart is in it. I’ve been blessed to walk so many runways and so blessed to meet some amazing people in my journey to becoming The Great I Am , The things I’ve accomplished , Activates my Faith and reminds me to keep going and moving forward and trying and discovering New Things and New activities. I Have The Mindset Of A Winner. To whom , that is reading this , I encourage you to change the way you think about yourself and your career , Think Big , Think Mighty and Know That You are A Winner , over any situation, and once you get that you are a Winner in your mind system ….. You Will be unstoppable, You’ll make up in your mind , the sky isn’t the limit……. But success is limitless.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Along The Way , All Of My Knowledge has been given to me by God. And Knowledge is Endless. Meditating , along with having a consistent Prayer Life , was a quality that became a lifestyle for me . Being Hopeful and faithful , believing that my life will align on its own , but a great amount of dedication and hard work will push the process even more. I’ve been the biggest impact on my life , Before and after til this day , But most importantly, God has been the most impact in My life , With my life and with my vision to becoming One of the Most influential Models in this generation . With That being said , My advice for people in their early stage of their career or journey, is to write the vision and make it plain . Meaning , make sure when praying and manifesting your dreams , goals and visions , is to be very detailed , so that you’re not all over the place with yourself in the journey is becoming great or greater. Take as much time out for you , to gather yourself , as well as gather you’re thoughts. Self -Love , meaning taking care of your skin , drinking lots of water , soaking in nothing but positive things into your spirit and protecting your energy from anything that will cause you to be stagnant. That Way , there won’t be any room for burn-out , and you’ll always be on top, and those are a few things that will keep you on top of your game.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The Most impactful thing my parents did for me , was bring me into this world. I am so grateful to be able to experience life , and actually see good days and face bad days.. I Know That’s so cliche , to say and very short and simple but if you really think about it yourself , the way life can bring challenges , you have to sit back and thank your parents , because they didn’t have to do it. I believe life is such a beautiful thing and it’s so precious . It’s so worth soaking in every minute and moment. Without my parents , I wouldn’t be able to wake up and experience all the good things about reality and even the bad days . Watching both my father and mother walk out into the world and face it , with a lifted head and a chest up posture , motivates me and pushes me . To be a better person , but to be better at anything I put my mind too. So Yes , my parents is the reason I am who I am today , Hard working and determine to get things in motion whether it’s career driven or just mediocre living .
