Meet Kennedi Harris

We recently connected with Kennedi Harris and have shared our conversation below.

Kennedi, so great to have you on the platform and excited to have you share your wisdom with our community today. Communication skills often play a powerful role in our ability to be effective and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your communication skills.
I developed my ability to communicate effectively through a challenging experience in my life. When I was seven years old, I was mistakenly taken from my school by a state worker, and it left me with a deep sense of mistrust and difficulty in communicating with both peers and adults. My parents played a crucial role in helping me overcome this, and it was during this time that I started my own business K-Lock, selling safety lockets to prevent such incidents from happening to other kids. These lockets contained a child’s name, parent’s contact information, and school details.

A year later, I wrote my first best-selling book, “Lemons to Lemonade,” which detailed how I turned a tragic situation into a triumph. Sharing my story through my book and public speaking engagements gave me a sense of comfort and allowed me to make a significant positive impact on the lives of others. This transformation from a negative experience to a positive one has been instrumental in making me an effective communicator, particularly on a broader platform.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Kennedi Harris, and I’m a 13-year-old CEO of my own company. I started this journey when I was just 7 years old, beginning with my safety locket and have since transitioned into my health and nutrition company. What excites me the most about my work is the opportunity to make a real difference in children’s lives. I created my own children’s multivitamin to support their health during the pandemic when I saw that kids’ immune systems were at risk. I also noticed the rising rates of obesity and diabetes in children and wanted to offer a solution for better health.

In addition to our multivitamins, I’ve developed my proprietary blend of food seasonings called K-Lock Flavor Kick, which comes in two delicious flavors: Lemon Pepper and Sweet and Bold. These seasonings add great taste to a variety of dishes, making healthy meals enjoyable.

But my commitment to health goes beyond nutrition. I understand the power of positive affirmations, especially after a traumatic event in my life. That’s why I created K-Lock Health Affirmation Cards, a deck of 50 cards that provide positive messages for kids and adults to start their day on a powerful note.

I believe that what we put into our minds through positive thoughts translates into our actions. I love spending time with my family and traveling the world, exploring different countries. Reading, drawing, and staying active through fitness and workouts are also some of my passions.

My current and future goals include building my public speaking platform as a keynote speaker. I share my inspirational story, turning lemons into lemonade, to impact both kids and adults positively. I hope to reach even more people with my message of resilience and the importance of maintaining a healthy body and mind.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe three qualities have been most impactful. First, being teachable has been crucial. It’s essential to be open to learning from others, especially those who have experience in your field of interest. Second, developing focusing clarity has helped me stay on track and work towards my goals. Knowing what you want and staying focused on it is key. Third, developing soft skills, like effective communication, at a young age has been invaluable.

For those who are early in their journey, my advice is to instill in kids the belief that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to. Encourage them to find someone who has already succeeded in their desired field and learn from them. It’s all about duplication and leveraging the knowledge of those who have gone before. And remember, when life gives you lemons, turn them into lemonade.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Kennedi is looking to partner and collaborate with a major companies to have her products placed in big box stores. Kennedi is also looking for schools organizations and corporations to speak publicly on her speaking circuit. Kennedi has a desire to build her keynote platform to a higher level and reach more people by speaking from bigger stages. Kennedi can be reached at these platforms. .
