Kennedi, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
“God is creator, which means that God is creative and because you are created in the image and of the likeness of God, you have creativity.” Dr. Marcus D Cosby
Recognizing the creative essence of God underscores the idea that creativity is inherent within us as beings who are made in the image and likeness of the savior. This acknowledgment serves as a constant reminder of the importance of nurturing our creative faculties to serve others.
For me, sustaining creativity requires the balance between striving for excellence driven by my gifts and allowing moments of introspection. Creating a space devoid of distractions allows me to be fully present, resulting in clearer thinking. In addition, I derive inspiration from music, new or unfamiliar environments, and engaging conversations with diverse individuals.
Central to my philosophy is the practice of self care. By tending to my mental, physical, and emotional well-being, I protect my inner peace and curiosity.
Understanding the concepts of motivation versus determination has been eye-opening in keeping my creativity alive. While motivation fluctuates, reminding myself of my purpose (“why”) fuels perseverance in pursuit of my endeavors. I’ve come to realize that creativity is not coerced, but flows naturally, and applies to every facet of life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Kennedi Noel, a multi-passionate entrepreneur from St.Louis who helps fearless leaders amplify their narratives and visual identities to foster genuine connections with their audiences.
As the founder and UGC content strategist of Noel Visions & Design, I offer businesses the support and framework required to consistently deliver value through their content. By prioritizing storytelling, leadership, and achievement in my content strategy approach, I empower brands to lead confidently and leave a lasting impact.
Think of me as your brand advocate, dedicated to enhancing your digital voice and vision. My services span strategic content marketing planning, social profile analyses, campaign-specific graphic design, and immersive in-person production experiences. Recognizing the pivotal role of video and graphic design, my services aim to boost brand awareness and recognition.
In my first year, I collaborated with nonprofits and local businesses across hospitality, fitness, finance, entertainment, and education, primarily focusing on graphic design and video editing. However, my journey since obtaining my Bachelor’s in Marketing and gaining two years of industry experience has revealed a common issue: complacency and a lack of creativity in social media marketing. This is why my latest offerings cater to those seeking to revolutionize their digital brand representation.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I host and produce “Kandid Konvos w/ Ken,” a platform for engaging discussions with high-achieving entrepreneurs and creatives in the Midwest. From digital app founders to independent musicians, my guests represent diverse fields, and I’m committed to providing them with visibility and recognition. Although the show went on hiatus, I’m excited to bring the show back at an elevated level in the near future.
I’m most excited about the launch of my new offerings. I’ve spent a few months refining my business model to ensure customized and impactful content plans for clients. Throughout my journey, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with remarkable individuals and supporting brands in realizing their full potential in their respective industries.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In both my personal life and entrepreneurial endeavors, critical thinking, time management, and resilience stand out as three skills that have shaped my journey.
Critical thinking is a must, as emphasized by a favorite quote from my father: “life is a thinker’s game”. This perspective has guided my approach to decision-making, ensuring choices based on evidence while staying grounded in my morals and values. Engaging with diverse perspectives has also allowed me to foster open-mindedness, enriching my ability to navigate complex issues.
Understanding the value of time has been a lesson learned over the years. As I reflect on my journey from grade school to receiving my Bachelor’s degree, I’ve come to appreciate the finite nature of time and the importance of intentionality. Balancing daily responsibilities with meaningful activity ensures that every moment of the day is utilized effectively and with substance.
Resilience is the most important lesson life has taught me. Facing rejection, tragedy, and unexpected circumstances is inevitable, but it’s our response that defines us. I’ve learned to weather life’s hardships and emerge stronger by drawing strength from my faith and commitment to living by its principles. Every setback becomes a lesson. This perspective has shaped my character.
For those seeking to develop or improve these skills, my advice is simple:
Question the norm. Society often imposes unrealistic expectations, leading us to accept flawed ideologies without scrutiny. Remaining true to our morals when challenging norms allow us to walk with dignity. Like children, we should retain our curiosity and never stop seeking answers. Critical thinking begins with understanding the roots of societal norms and engaging in meaningful conversations to uncover misconceptions.
Organize your life. Bringing structure to our daily routines breeds productivity. Establishing morning routines, maintaining to-do lists, and creating conducive work environments are essential. When incorporating practices like rest, meditation, or prayer, it promotes reflection. Creating an intentional, balanced life will have you performing at a level of excellence.
Embrace challenges. Adopting a mindset of hope, determination, and confidence empowers us to confront adversity. Whether in our careers or personal lives, challenges serve as opportunities for growth, not doubt or fear.
In all, by nurturing critical thinking, mastering time management, and exercising resilience, I believe that we’ll equip ourselves to navigate life’s complexities with grace and purpose.
