Meet Kenya Fowler

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kenya Fowler. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kenya, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
This is a loaded question, and for me, it wasn’t a matter of developing confidence and self-esteem, it was a matter of taking back and reclaiming that which was stolen from me. When I was a child, I was molested, and in that moment, my identity, my innocence, my confidence, my assurance, my self-esteem, my boldness, and my fearlessness, were stolen. I struggled with my identity in a facet of ways. But God!! He met me in my pain, and confusion and reminded me of who He created me to be, of who I truly was. He reminded me that the name of Jesus was the greatest name that reigns supreme over any and every other name that has been named, including victim, identity confusion, and the like. I placed the name of Jesus back at that moment. I forgave, trusted Him, and made the decision to meet the healing journey head-on. I chose, and choose daily, to give God my yes and to answer His call on my life. I choose to believe what He has already established in heaven concerning me. Gifted to teach, counsel, equip, and activate, I love people for real, and choose daily to walk in the confidence that I have truly overcome (and continue to do so), because greater is He who is in me than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the daughter of El Elyon, the wife of a King and the mom of two Kings. The founder of Kenya Teach Ministries, I boldly proclaim and live the uncompromising truths of Scripture unwaveringly and count it a privilege to minister to people from all cultures. I was created to create ripple effects of Godly change, transforming lives, communities, states, and nations. To know me is to know that prayer is my love language. The host of the previous 4 year Boundless Women’s Conference, I’m excited about new instruction regarding what’s next. In all of our doing, we must ensure that we’re not operating on an expired word from God. In 2019, God gave me Boundless, saying that His daughters needed to be reminded that He has showered them with His grace, for them to receive it and extend it to themselves. The term Boundless is an adjective meaning unlimited, immeasurable, and abundant. It also serves as the description of something no longer bound, resulting in freedom. The result of this double entendre is Boundless: Freedom in Christ, living in the abundance. Since 2019, I’ve taught, ministered, counseled, and traveled to different states of America as well as Africa, introducing and reintroducing people to a Boundless God. I authored and self-published my first book between 2019 and 2020 (Boundless: Unchained Testimonies) and will be publishing book #2 very soon (Boundless: Unleash and Release…Unleash the Shame and Release the Testimony).

After over a decade of service as a Registered Nurse, God transitioned me into real estate. I’m a solo Realtor in Columbia, South Carolina, and a North Carolina real estate Broker (born and raised in North Carolina), with personal referral partners all over the country, extending into Canada. My business is Boundless Realty also known as Boundless Real Estate, and I’m a member of Keller Williams Realty. I hold the values of integrity, hard work, excellence, and outstanding client service into assisting every client with their home buying, selling, and investing needs. It’s not just what I do, it’s who I am. It’s Kingdom business.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

So many things I could mention here, and I will narrow it down to my faith in God’s Word, my ability to endure, and my ability to persevere. The Word of God is truth and knowing the truth, renewing my mind to the truth, and obeying the truth (what God has said about me, my situations, my past, my future, my family, etc.), is and has been the foundation for success in my journey. Joshua 1:8 tells us to constantly speak the Word, to meditate on it day and night that we may observe to do according to all that is written in it. Then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Hebrew 11:1 tells usNow faith is the substance (essence or ultimate reality) of the things (promises of God) I hope for, AND the evidence (proof, testimony, or the thing that bears witness) of things not seen (promises/word of God). Learning how to renew my mind, changing the negative, doubting, limited, self-sabotaging thinking to the truth that I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me (Romans 8:37); I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phili. 4:13); I am the head and not the tail (Deut. 28:13); The Lord gives grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from me when I walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11); For God has not given me a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). These are just a few that I encourage people to learn and begin to speak over their own lives, families, and futures. Another tip that God gave me some years ago was to record myself making “I am” statements that lined up with scripture and combated all the negative self-talk that was dominating my life, then relisten to it throughout the day. Sometimes I would even sleep with it playing low by my bedside. It must be your voice because the negative self-talk sounds just like you. After a while, I noticed that every time a negative thought came to hinder me from making a move or believing in myself, immediately, my spoken truth would come up and shut down the negative. It works, and I encourage anyone who struggles in this area to try it. Last and not least, some may see endurance and perseverance as being the same, but they are two different qualities that life has granted me the luxury of experiencing and developing in. So much so that to this day, they help me remain… for myself and others. Endurance is the ability to withstand hardship or adversity, the ability to sustain a prolonged stressful season, while perseverance is the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. I not only endured the internal and external chaos resulting from being molested as a child, my parent’s divorce, layers of rejection over the years, nay-sayers, and the list goes on; but I persevered. I persevered to be the first to go and complete college in my family. I persevered to be the Vice President and President of both of my Nursing Classes. Yes, I persevered to become a Registered Nurse, as a single mother. I persevered in the transition from nursing into real estate to become a top producer in my first year. I persevered to experience the most amazing, influential marriage. I say all this not to boast but to inspire, to encourage, and to show that you can be free from childhood trauma, and life’s hard challenges and go forth walking in victory. I determined in my heart that my past would not define me. I determined that what was done to me would not destroy me. I determined that God had and always has my YES! You, too, can overcome. Have faith, endure, determine in your heart, and persevere. There will be glory after this!

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My greatest area of growth in the past 12 months has been in the area of asking. This may seem simple, however, what I came to have to admit was that I did not like asking for anything, not realizing that this posture was prideful. Eek! God reiterated to me, that I do not have because I do not ask, and that He knew I would not ask amiss, according to James 4:2-3. That was it for me. Sitting and realizing that I was the reason for my not having or experiencing certain things, simply because I was not opening my mouth and asking, was foolish. So I began to ask. When I needed help, didn’t know something that I needed to know, or had a question about something, I asked, and from my asking, my knowledge, confidence, and boldness have grown leaps and bounds in the past 12 months. More so than if I would have continued to be timid, fearful, and prideful, not in all, but definitely some areas. I was determined to see and experience what was on the other side of my ask. And I am doing just that. Matthew 7:7-8 says, Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
