Meet Kenya Profit

We were lucky to catch up with Kenya Profit recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kenya, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Growing up, I always had an idea of where I wanted to go in life. I knew what career I wanted to pursue and step by step how it was going to happen. School was always easy for me and it was something I didn’t have to worry about. It wasn’t until freshman year of college that I realized I was in for a rude awakening. I was miles away from home, independent, and curious. With all these new experiences around me and never really having to study, I took my classes for granted and didn’t prioritize as well as I should have, I also came to realize I didn’t enjoy what I was pursuing. I felt lost and uncertain about the future. I didn’t know what I was doing or where I was going. I ended up forming a co-dependent relationship with my first real boyfriend and isolated myself from developing friendships.

After that break-up, I was shattered. I began to look into ways to hear from God and learning more about what a healthy relationship looks like. While looking up “ways to hear from God,” I found people talking about using crystals and meditation to get into touch with God and spirits. I was intrigued because I needed direction and I needed wisdom. That seemed like my answer.

After much inner conflict, I brought myself to purchase a handful of crystals. I followed the instructions given to me on a YouTube video and continued along my journey. I drove myself deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole of spirituality through podcasts and books. However, I still felt unlike myself. I still felt depressed and a longing for wisdom. One night as I was using my crystals to pray to God and practicing my ability to see aura’s, a dark presence came over my room. I could not explain what it was, but I knew it was not the God I was seeking. That was confirmed the next day after I listened to a podcast where the host mentioned how she has to be careful when using crystals because dark spirits can disguise themselves as light spirits.

After that, I was done. I knew there had to be something out there where I didn’t have to tip toe around my spiritual beliefs to avoid darkness. That brought me to think about my childhood. When I was 10 years old I was baptized in a baptist church. Not because I was pushed to do so or because I saw other people do it it, but because I felt the tugging of the Lord and I knew that Jesus is my Lord and savior. Not being discipled or having biblical literacy from that point to college impacted my life and drove me to the point I found myself in.

After that realization, I threw away the crystals and picked up my bible. I attended a wonderful church and joined a small group. Re-dedicating my life to Jesus is how I found my purpose. I learned what I was created for and why I was created. I learned that I am loved and that I am precious. I learned my every detail was thought about from the very moment I was created in my mother’s womb.

Through learning that, various studies in my bible, and pursuing a relationship with God, everything started to get back on track. I saw joy and excitement for life again. I saw the things the Lord was pushing me to do and I see that today as well. I couldn’t have gotten out of that darkness and be where I am today with out finding my relationship with Jesus.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a faith and lifestyle YouTube commentator. I have a personal YouTube channel that’s just my first and last name. I also have a YouTube channel I co-started with my husband called QualiTea Entertainment. My personal YouTube channel is faith related surround topics that include girl talks, femininity, and lifestyle. QualiTea Entertainment is developing into a network. There are different shows covered by all of our talent. We currently have Faith & Beyond, QualiTea Bae, and The Conscious Outlet. There’s something for anyone needing encouragement and for anyone trying to see how to practically apply the God’s Word to everyday life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Wisdom, Discipline, and Consistency have been so crucial. It’s something I have to work on everyday and I am not perfect at it whatsoever. However, I know when I am implementing these, things are moving in the direction they need to. I’ve become very systematic over the years and less emotional when it comes to decision making. Systems lead to results. If you want to develop or improve these I would encourage you to first go into prayer about it and sit in silence for a few minutes until you get direction. Some practical things I have done include, starting with my goal and breaking that all the down to what needs to be done 5-6 days a week in order to achieve what needs to be done. I’m systematic but I surrender all my plans and ideas to God first and allow him to guide my steps.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes! I am always looking to connect and collaborate with people. Looking for people that also enjoy providing commentary to things going on in the culture. If that’s you please send me a dm on instagram (@thekenyaprofit) or email me (kenya@wartowncreative.com). We love bringing people on QualiTea Entertainment for interviews and reactions.
