Meet Kenyetta Stroud

We were lucky to catch up with Kenyetta Stroud recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kenyetta , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Thank you for interviewing me on this amazing platform and giving me the opportunity to discuss my resilience and where it comes from with your audience. My resilience was influenced by various factors, such as my upbringing in Detroit Michigan, my life experiences, my personal mindset, and my coping strategies.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Kenyetta Stroud and I am a credit union manager and entrepreneur. I am the proud owner of Funnel Cake Heaven, and Ms Cornbeef LLC. I am also the director a nonprofit I established in remembrance of my late son Allan called, THE ACEZ FOUNDATION OF ATLANTA. This organization is in place to help support families who are awaiting organ donorship. As a credit union manager, I work closely with law enforcement professionals and am passionate about using my skills to help people cultivate a healthy relationship with money. It is truly a blessing from the Lord to have the autonomy to guide families towards making wise financial decisions and creating generational wealth. I am grateful to be a part of an organization that allows me to partner with the law enforcement community and sharpen my skills while changing lives. Through financial guidance, I have the opportunity to influence and add value to so many people’s lives. My dedication to using the resources that the Lord has blessed me with has led me to being featured on a television series on Lifetime called, “Designing Spaces of Hope”, where I use my skills to empower women who have been victims of human trafficking. It is my mission to teach them resilience and help them change their mindset to be free from their past experiences. I am committed to using my blessings and skills to serve people.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

As I reflect upon my life, I am grateful for the many qualities and skills that have helped shape me into the person I am today. However, there are three that stand out as being the most impactful. The first is resilience. Throughout my life, I have faced numerous challenges and setbacks, but my ability to bounce back and keep moving forward has been crucial in overcoming them. This quality has allowed me to adapt and grow in the face of adversity. The second is empathy. I have always been able to understand and share the feelings of others, which has helped me build strong and meaningful relationships. It has also enabled me to be a source of support and comfort for those in need. Lastly, communication skills have played a significant role in my life. Whether it’s expressing myself effectively or actively listening to others, being able to communicate effectively has helped me navigate through various situations and build successful connections with people from all walks of life. These three qualities have not only impacted my personal growth but have also been instrumental in shaping my academic and professional success. They continue to be essential assets that I value and strive to further develop in my journey through life.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

My favorite book entitled, ‘The Power of Habit’, by Charles Duhigg, has had a profound impact on me. This insightful and thought-provoking book inspired change in me personally as it delves into the science behind habits and their powerful influence on our lives. As I read through the pages, I realized the need to understand why I do the things I do and how habits are formed. The book’s message of not allowing habits to control our actions resonated deeply with me, and it encouraged me to take a closer look at my own habits and identify with which ones were hindering my personal growth. The Power of Habit also taught me the value of perseverance and overcoming obstacles on my journey towards self-improvement. This book has truly been a game-changer for me, and I constantly find myself referring back to its teachings as I strive to break free from old habits and create positive change in my life. Thanks to this book, I have gained a better understanding of myself and the power I hold to shape my own destiny through intentional habits.
