Kenyon R. , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My journey to finding my purpose has been anything but ordinary, filled with its share of twists and turns. It all started when I was just a five-year-old, sitting on a rock outside my mother’s drug-infested apartment complex, and had a wild spiritual encounter. At that moment I felt a call from God that set me on this unpredictable path.
Growing up, my curiosity and passion for digging deep into spirituality and speaking up for myself and others made me stand out, and not always in ways that everyone appreciated. I was that kid who asked too many questions and challenged the way things were done in my family and church. It caused a bit of friction at times, but it also taught me to stand firm in who I am and what I believe.
But here’s the thing: amid all those challenges, I discovered something pretty powerful about myself. I saw firsthand the impact of trauma and tough times on people I cared about, including me. It lit a fire in me to be the beacon of hope and joy in my community. I learned to craft experiences and atmospheres that lifted spirits and brought smiles. Whether it was through my words, my insights, my creativity, or just my presence, I became that guy who could turn a room around, making it a place where joy and hope weren’t just wishful thinking but a reality.
So, my purpose? It’s to use my unique gifts to serve, inspire, and create experiences of peace and happiness in a world that often seems dark. It’s about showing up and showing out, bringing light to the shadows and joy to those who need it most. This journey’s been eventful, but knowing I can make someone’s life a little brighter makes it all worth it.

From the moment I first held a microphone at the age of four, I knew my calling was to spread joy through my creativity. This early realization set me on a path that has taken me around the world, from sharing stages in concerts, films, and theatre with some of the industry’s biggest names to captivating audiences as a public speaker. My journey has been a testament to the power of creativity in uplifting spirits and transforming atmospheres.
Today, as the Founder and CEO of 90° North, I’ve channeled my lifelong passion for creativity and my extensive experience in event planning and production into a business that stands for more than just organizing events. Our mission at 90° North is encapsulated in our motto, “Elevating Your Experience the Right Way.” This isn’t just a tagline—it’s our commitment to every client and project we take on. Over the last 18 years, I’ve immersed myself in the vast world of production, gathering knowledge and expertise that now serve as the foundation of our services at 90° North.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, I can pinpoint three core qualities that truly shaped my path: persistence, consistency, and passion. There’s also a bonus fourth: excellence, which naturally intertwines knowledge and accuracy into its fabric.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to embrace these qualities wholeheartedly. Understand that growth takes time and that setbacks are part of the process. Be patient with yourself. Be flexible and ready for change, but also be disciplined. Find what drives you, and let that passion be your guiding light. And above all, strive for excellence in every small task, for it’s in these details that greatness is born.
Remember, the journey is as important as the destination. Enjoy the ride, learn from every experience, and keep pushing forward. Your persistence, consistency, passion, and pursuit of excellence will not only propel you towards your goals but will also define the legacy you leave behind.
