Meet Keondre Pascal

We were lucky to catch up with Keondre Pascal recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Keondre, really appreciate you joining us to talk about a really relevant, albeit unfortunate topic – layoffs and getting fired. Can you talk to us about your experience and how you overcame being let go?

Funny enough, that’s exactly what started this whole journey. Back in the 2024–2025 school year, I was working as a BCPS employee when budget cuts forced me to be surplused from my high school position. I was then moved to an elementary school in the area, where the environment wasn’t the best for me. I didn’t feel connected ; my heart wasn’t in it. I enjoyed the kids, but the sense of family was missing, and I realized I needed to create my own space within the county… for the sake of the next generation and what I believed they needed.

I prayed about it, searched for answers, and eventually came to the decision to leave. I turned to Kelly Services because I still needed a way to fund my efforts. During that time, I was still coaching and mentoring within the school system as a volunteer, which gave me a firsthand view of what was truly needed. Once I started subbing, I began using my checks to host dance classes, lead workshops, and even support students in their personal endeavors.

And now, here we are. KoreoKingz has officially started. Classes and mentorships are happening consistently, and I didn’t get here alone. The community I was building became a direct reflection of the community that had lifted me up. People like Voshaun Smith, Marvin Louis-Jean, Kyle Barker, Shappiro, Broady, Diaunte Jenkins, Rajan Russell, Aubrelle Jones, the Johnson family, Amari Garrett, and of course, my mom, just to name a few.

So, when you ask me how I got through it, my answer is simple: love, tenacity, resilience, and community.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My brand serves as a direct resource to the community’s needs, specifically by creating spaces where artists can truly reach their full potential. Personally, watching people grow vulnerable to the craft and give in to their form of expression has to be the most exciting aspect of KoreoKingz. There are a lot of places that visually resemble what KoreoKingz offers, but there are not a lot of places that foster the same feeling as a KoreoKingz environment, and that is what makes me unique. You can count on the room being filled with empowerment and passion, forging a haven for creative expression to prevail. Whether that medium be dance, cheer, band, or step, making a difference in a way that people connect through shared passions means the world to me. Now, focusing on the step component of KoreoKingz, we have just released a handbook which provides guidance, teaching methods, and approaches to the art of step. The Art of Step: Unlocked serves as the beginning of a conversation. Sticking to my brand’s goal, being a resource to the many forms of expression.

“Step is more than just movement… It’s a living, breathing art form that demands precision, energy, and heart. In this book, you’ll discover a semi-step-by-step masterclass in stepping, blending deep musicality, raw intensity, and creative flair, allowing you to expand your creativity.

Every page is packed with practical insights and tested methods to elevate your stepping game.”

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I would say it has been important for me to remain authentic and resilient, while also staying trendy. In today’s microwavable society, we often see businesses pushing ingenuity and development just to remain relevant. For me, it has always been about staying true to what I know is my God-given purpose. My ability to recover from unfortunate incidents hasn’t just come from brainpower; it has come from authenticity. When your service to the world is truly aligned with God, He provides a different kind of assistance. In my times of trouble, prayer has given me guidance that no mortal being could ever provide. For me, resilience has always meant prayer.

At the same time, I believe it’s important to stay aware of the present, knowing and implementing what today’s society has to offer. While I’m not altering my art, I constantly use different forms of societal attraction to bring my expression to the forefront. Whether it’s through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, CapCut, Splice, or Canva, I’m always searching for the trendiest ways to showcase what I do. That could mean creating informative reels about my business, designing eye-catching graphics, or even producing small skits that reflect my work in an entertaining way.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am always looking for businesses and artists to work with, as KoreoKingz was founded on the connections between creatives. My ideal collaborators are fellow mentors, expressive & vulnerable individuals, and people who are open to starting a conversation. I believe in not only the advancement of physical expression but also in the oral exchange of passion and gained knowledge.

Anyone seeking a collaboration can reach out to the Instagram, @koreokingz, or my personal email, [email protected]
