We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Keosha Thomas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Keosha, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my hard work ethic from my parents. My mother and father have always worked hard consistently over the years to achieve their goals in life.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the proud Founder/CEO of Tallgirlsmatter (#TGM) hailing from Nashville, TN and standing tall at 6 0.” In 2017, I launched Tallgirlsmatter to bring awareness to the often overlooked tall female demographic for women and girls at the height of 5’9” and above. The branding includes merchandise, empowerment and media content.
It was my desire to see more positive representation of women who stand at over 5’9″ in all ages, sizes, body types and races. I birthed the support group and movement known as “Tall Girls Matter.” The group is an internet sensation, connecting women all over the world who are on the journey to embracing their height and building a supportive community.
A self-described ‘Jill of All Trades,’ she leverages her keen acumen for marketing with her wealth of public relations experience that spans more than a decade in addition to her work with #TGM. I have a clothing line that can dress your whole tall family baby, kids, teen, men and women adult sizes. Also we carry jewelry and accessories in our collection. We recently added some new items to our store so be sure to check us out at our Etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/Tallgirlsmatter.
In addition, we host monthly Tallgirlmeetups in different cities and countries worldwide. It is known as the Tallgirlsmatter (#TGM) meetup. This allows tall women to develop friendships that turn into long lasting sisterhoods and bonds. This is vital because some women may need to see others that look like them physically to learn to embrace their height, we share fashion tips/ideas, shop together and we recently started a TGM travel group.
This summer our group went on our first adventure traveling on our TGM Bahamas Cruise in August. We met online in our private TGm group and then planned our itinerary to sail on our journey to the beautiful Freeport, Bahamas. We spent time at a local resort, got some quality time on the beach, good food, and of course shopped till we dropped. Currently, we just announced our 2nd Tallgirlsmatter fashion giveaway for a college student and added a high school student this year. We have this annually where tall brands support us in giving gift cards, clothing and shoes to the winners.
In the final quarter of this year, we are excited to see all these areas of Tallgirlmeetups, travel and events blossom and grow. We already have some great things in the works for 2024!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say consistency, research and community. I would say figuring out a schedule that works best for you and fits in with your professional and personal life is important. Research is great to help you prepare your business before you invest or make any mistakes with time or money. It helps you to move ahead with your business, calling or purpose. I highly recommend keeping a small notepad or journal around you daily to jot down notes, reminders or ideas you may have. Community comes along with the other two areas I mentioned if you maintain a regular routine and do your homework then you will grow your community with those who are interested or identify with your business or that you may solve their concerns for. For example Tallgirlsmatter serves a great purpose for tall women. We are a resource and provide the information tall women would want to know about from where to find hot fashion, extended sizes, our clothing, monthly Tallgirl meetups which help tall women find a tall sisterhood.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We are always looking for Tallgirlsmatter ambassadors 5 9″ and up , partnerships and sponsorship opportunities. Currently we have a professional volleyball player, fitness guru, model and Influencer who are ambassadors representing us worldwide. We are interested in connecting with WNBA players and women college basketball players. Equally, we are open to other public figures whether other sports or in the community.
If any of these categories or areas fit you or if you know someone that should know about us please connect them with Tallgirlsmatter via email at : [email protected] or [email protected] .
