Meet Kerri-Ann Coombs Hodge

We were lucky to catch up with Kerri-Ann Coombs Hodge recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kerri-Ann , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
De’Cordova Eyewear was created from purpose. As a little girl I grew up seeing my father’s struggles with vision. My love for him and empathy created a purpose. Purpose is defined as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. I became a nurse then an optometrist and named an eyewear line and eyecare center after my father.

Purpose can be birth in time of pain and problems. It is the problem we are created to find the solution or improve a situation that can give one great purpose.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Created from purpose we created an atmosphere of Vision that is unique. We have a cafe that serves, water, coffee or tea. We also have great selections of books with our very own. ” A Girl with a Big Vision”my self as the author, that inspires while educating about the importance of eye health and vision. Our eye catching book-self captures the heart of most in our optical boutique. The inviting Eye -spa creates a relaxing atmosphere to learn more about the health of your eyes while we truly enlighten you on how your eyes are designed and customize care to match your needs. We also have a great selection of eyewear including our own to frame your face as your continue the journey of life and vision while looking and feeling your best.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three skills and qualities that continue to impact my life on this journey are , “Love, Learning and Live”. Love what you do and learn to love yourself and others is a learning process to success. Learning more about what I do, and how I can take better care of my patients is very important. We love learning new and updated care and treatments to enhance our community. Last but not least is that we should live today because tomorrow is not promised. Living means to leave the thoughts and views of others behind while living out your purpose driven life. The life you are created to live and be. Vision has been defined as a combination of a deep dissatisfaction with what is and a clear grasp of what could be. If you have vision, you will always be able to say, “it’s not over”.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
As a new practice we face the challenge of awareness of our wonderful care, services and brand. We look forward to more people finding out about us and coming in to obtain services. We look forward to taking care of all your vision needs.
