Meet Keva Morris

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Keva Morris. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Keva below.

Keva, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
It’s all about tapping into the beauty and strength that’s already inside every person. I love seeing people embrace their uniqueness and walk with confidence. When I help someone feel good about themselves, it’s like adding a little extra sparkle to the world. I’m all about nurturing that inner beauty and making sure everyone knows just how amazing they are. Because when we all shine, the whole world lights up

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a salon suite owner and cosmetologist. I’ve been in the business for 16+ years professionally and another 15 years before licensing. My business model is unique, as I have clients from all walks of life and all textures and densities of hair, as well as desired styles from straight to curly. I am also a wedding and editorial session stylist. Variety is the spice of life and keeps me current and on my toes.

I have a lot of things in the works right now. I just celebrated my first anniversary in my new salon suite. I’m in the planning stages of creating education platforms for clients and professional stylists. I will also be the lead hair stylist for a very popular fashion show in Denver Color of Fashion.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think having a professional business mindset is very important, as is keeping your finances, bookkeeping, marketing, and media in order. Be patient with yourself, your business building, and your client’s hair journey. It takes the time it takes to walk in your purpose. Always stay curious; excitement and interest can be found in most things, information, people, and processes along the journey.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
A few books have played a role in my personal development. The first is the Bible. There are so many lessons to be learned through discernment. A favorite is Ecclesiastes 3: ” To every thing there is a season.” I have been able to settle myself and continue to curate my life with the understanding that everything has its timing and place.

Secondly, Dr. Suess book these books gives such great lessons so simply to children and adults alike about kindness and being okay with things and people who are different.

Lastly, The Great American Bathroom Book Vol II: The Single Sitting Summaries of All-Time Great Books. A favorite is the poem “All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten,” a very simple lesson on how to move through life.
