Meet Kevin Bailey

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kevin Bailey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kevin below.

Kevin, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
When I graduated from college, I couldn’t immediately find a job in my field, so I decided to change fields and get into the computer technology field. At the time it was the hottest field to be in and you could make a great starting salary! They had some courses that you could take and become certified in computer hardware repair and managing computer networks. I registered for the classes and began my new career! I was excited about making $65,000 a year from the start! 28 years ago, that was a lot of money.

As I got deeper into my classes, I realized that I was not enjoying the experience. I do not like sitting in the same place for hours, and I really do not even enjoy computers themselves.

THESE ARE HUGE CLUES that I recognized, but I was still allowing myself to be blinded by the dollar signs.

When the final test came I didn’t pass the test. I took it two more times, and still could not pass it. The frustration kicked in because I felt like I knew the material, but the truth was, I knew deep in my heart that this was a mistake. I was not going to ever pass it because deep down, I didnt want to. When I allowed myself to walk away from it, I felt a great sense of relief. I was always taught that you should never quit anything, so allowing myself to honor ‘who’ I was deep within, regardless of the social norms and pressures that come with doing and being something ‘they’ want you to be or a career that sounds good, like a computer engineer, or a lawyer, was liberating!

I found my purpose by stepping back from life, quieting my mind, and asking myself, “What is it that I love doing? What am I passionate about? What comes naturally to me, that I can do with ease?”

The answer became very clear to me, fitness! While I was studying to enter into the computer field, I had a fulltime job working with special needs kids and a part time job at the local Gold’s Gym. When I was ready to leave the school, I easily found a job working for a chiropractor.

I said to myself, “Kevin, you love helping people, you would do that for free. You love encouraging people to be their best, that they can achieve their goal. You are very kinesthetic, you learn and operate best through touch and movement. And working part time at the gym allowed me to see how I can help people lose weight, get in shape, and feel great about themselves.” Seeing someone transform not only their body, but their mindset and attitude is an amazing thing to witness! So, I went forth and got my personal training certification and the rest is history.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a pain-free performance specialist, a corrective exercise specialist and a Master Health Coach. I help women entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals to identify the actual source of their musculoskeletal pain (knee pain, shoulder pain or impingement, lower back pain) and I give them easy to use strategies that help them to get out of pain, move more freely and easily and feel absolutely amazing.

What is most exciting about what I do is that I help people to get back to doing the thing that they love doing, for when you are in debilitating pain, you lose your love of life because you are unable to do the thing that you love doing, whether it be playing tennis or golf, or running, whatever it is, it invigorates you and makes you feel alive! When you cannot do it, you can become depressed. I love helping people to get back to moving more efficiently and easily so that they can get their love of life back and feel good, because I believe that we were created to feel good. When you feel good and you are engaged in the things you love doing you are being the greatest expression of yourself and you are able to love and serve others at the highest level. You can carry out your mission and purpose with excellence… enhancing and positively affecting all of those whom you come in contact with on your journey.

What is also cool about what I do is that in my health coaching program, The Feel Good Habit Coaching program, I get an opportunity to help guide my clients through a process that addresses not only their physical aspects, like exercising and eating healthy, but also the deeper levels of health, like their mindset (believing in themselves, their values, their stress management), their sense of purpose and wellbeing, and them working on cultivating and working on themselves through meditation. Learning to and practicing meditation allows one to reach down past the conscious rational mind into the creative subconscious mind! Our behaviors, and habits reside there, which is the part of the mind that controls and governs 95-98 percent of our lives. Accessing this part of the mind is where true, lasting change occurs.

I have a free gift that touches on the primary basis of the coaching program called The Four Pillars to Feeling Good: https://thefeelgoodguy.activehosted.com/f/1

And I am writing a book called “The Feel Good Habit” which is what my coaching program is based on. From the book, to the coaching program, you want to make feeling good a habit in your life!

I have an online summit coming soon called, Feel Good After 50 Summit, helping people that are over 50 years old how they can still thrive in their health and life!

I am focused on speaking at different women’s events, conferences, tv shows, and podcasts spreading the Feel Good Habit gospel in order to inspire women all across the world that it is okay to take some time out for yourself and make feeling good a habit in your life! Women take care and sacrifice for everyone else, to the detriment of neglecting their own health. But now it is time for women to take care of themselves! Women, YOU deserve to feel good!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The 3 most important qualities, skills and areas of knowledge for me were:

1) HAVE A POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE- This is my number one because people are looking for someone who has a great attitude. A positive mental attitude is attractive and can elevate the energy in any environment. It will separate you from the crowd because we live in a world where the majority of people are negative and doubtful, but when you show up on the scene, your positive mental attitude brings faith, confidence and assurance along with it. When you are a positive person, you always think in the realm of what’s possible, and what we can accomplish. When my business got slow, or when I was laid off three times, I had to remain positive with a firm belief that the best was yet to come and I will be better and stronger at the end of this trial. MY ADVICE TO FOLKS WHO ARE EARLY IN THEIR CAREER: Feed your mind with positivity through books, programs, courses, magazines, seminars, conferences, workshops and podcasts, and other outlets that promote positive messages and promote personal development. INVEST IN YOURSELF AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.

2) BEING AN ACTIVE LISTENER: Learning to really listen to your customer, your boss, your employees, and your coworkers is a very important part of communicating with them. You must focus on what they are actually telling you in order to properly respond to them. Everyone that you communicate with is not going to be able to clearly define what they need, but if you are an active listener, you will be able to figure out what they are trying to express to you. If you seek to truly understand what they want from you, or what they need, they will truly appreciate you and will like, respect, and trust you, and when those things fall in place, you have a customer for life. MY ADVICE TO FOLKS WHO ARE EARLY IN THEIR CAREER: Simply seek to understand them first, before you seek to be understood. Be curious about them, ask plenty of questions.

3) BE A LIFELONG LEARNER: I am always taking a course in my field and learning how to do things better. I want to go deeper and wider with the knowledge that I obtain being able to separate myself from what my competitors are doing. Everything that I learn is helping me to serve my clients better so that they can have an excellent experience and outcome! My aim is to have your physician refer you to me. MY ADVICE TO FOLKS WHO ARE EARLY IN THEIR CAREER: Every year take an educational course or seminar that enhances your skills that will put you one step ahead of your peers. Always ask, “what is a skill that I can obtain that will make me significantly better at what I do, that will greatly help my customers or the people I serve?”

Here’s a 4th: Be ENTHUSIASTIC in what you do. It is contagious, exciting and very magnetic for people will possibly buy your product just because you are so enthusiastic about it!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The one that has been the most helpful in overcoming my challenges is my faith in God!
