Meet Kevin Corral

We recently connected with Kevin Corral and have shared our conversation below.

Kevin, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

As I was growing up, everyone around me always wanted to tell me what my purpose should be or what I should be doing. From a very young age, I began working. My family wasn’t the wealthiest, as my parents were immigrants from Mexico. I thought my purpose was to work to help my parents out, grow up, and get a good job with money so we could all live comfortably, so we never had to worry anymore. funny thing is, is what i thought was my purpose to get a good-paying job was shut down by the very people i was doing it for, my parents told me that wasn’t my purpose, they told me that i needed to find my purpose, what i really want to live for, fight for. For the longest time, I didn’t know what they meant, or what my purpose was supposed to be in this world, and it was right in front of me the whole time without even realizing it. Growing up, movies and TV media had always been a big part of my life; my family would always take me to the movies, or we would go to the video store nearby where we lived at the time. I was always a creative kid, from drawing to making stuff out of Legos or clay, and creating stories for my toys or Legos to follow, making my own movies in my head. Directors like David Lynch and Christopher Nolan, and many others, became big inspirations to me when I got older, as well as actors like Andrew Garfield, Grant Gustin, Tobey Maguire, and Hugh Jackman were heroes to me as I grew up seeing them as heroes. The time came when I was entering my last year of high school, I had to find my purpose, what did i want to do with my life, with all this stress i had put on Spider-Man (2002) and i as i watching it quickly dawned on me, i wanted to inspire people, entertain them, create an escape from reality for others the way many of the people i mentioned did for me, help me enjoy somehtimg when times were tough, and that how i found my purpose, i wanted to become a filmaker, and entertainer, so i did, i went to college and studied Film and Televsion, walking the stage May of 2025 infront of my parents, who shaped me to find my purpose, what i wanted to do, they were my #1 supporters and pushed me to find my puprose when i didn’t know what it was. My parents told i needed to find what i loved, what would give me purpose and i finally did and i havent looked back since.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Kevin Corral, I am a Director, Writer, and Actor. As of right now, I am currently writing and directing my own projects, but also acting when I get the opportunity. I run an up-and-coming production company called SGP Studios with a close friend of mine, Alejandro Ruiz. Our goal is to get other people’s stories seen, whether it’s helping someone’s script get produced or just being a distributor. We recently wrapped up a short film called Sin of Spider-Man, and have a web series called The Spectacular Spider-Man at the end of this year. I also have had a short horror script produced in March called “The Box,” which is also up on our YouTube channel. As for upcoming Projects, I will be directing a short stoner comedy that I wrote this July, and returning as Spider-Man this August.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think three important qualities to have are Resilience, Patience, and Originality. Being a filmmaker really takes a lot of patience, you will not be where you want to be right away. I learned that thinking, because I was doing characters like Spider-Man, I would garner attention right away, but that wasn’t the case. I had to be patient, but also resilient. You have to have Resilience, don’t give up because things aren’t the way you expected right away, keep going, keep grinding. The Final piece of the puzzle is originality. Be true to yourself, be your own original self. We all think differently and create differently, and I think that’s the beauty of being a filmmaker. It’s that we get to be original.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

There have been so many people who I think have contributed to helping me overcome my challenges, to be successful, first being my parents, Hermina and Claudio, who always encouraged me to do what I love and pushed me to do better, whether it was for school or for any of my films. The second person who has contributed to life has been my beautiful girlfriend, Arianna, who has always been one of my biggest supporters, even when I’ve doubted myself; she’s never doubted me and has always encouraged me to go with my gut. I can also say the same to one person who has always supported me through my journey, with that being an old high school teacher of mine, Deborah Watson. Her kindness and support shed light on challenges even when I thought I couldn’t overcome them. Last but certainly not least, my brother Alejandro, I don’t know if I would have made it as far as I did without him; he’s been my day one, and without his support for my crazy ideas or his help, I couldn’t have done everything that I accomplished.
