We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kevin Kinkade a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
First of all, never compare yourself to others around you. You are on your own personal journey. I’m not one of these people who believe that there should be no competition. I don’t believe in “participation trophies”, but competition should not be about anything other than reaching your own personal potential. Even if you do not come in first place, you are reaching a higher level of personal achievement just by being in that competition. Each person in that competition is striving for excellence. By competing, you are bringing out the best in each other. This is how all competition should be viewed. The world is full of people striving to define themselves through the eyes of others. We live in an age of social media and egos abound. Is your self-esteem based on validation and feedback? Is it based on the opinions of others, or is it something that comes from your own vibrational level and level of awareness? If your confidence is based on validation, then you will never really get a true sense of who you are because your self-image is dependent on the opinions of others around you and those people might have motivations of their own. Maybe it’s a friend who sugarcoats their remarks because they do not want to embarrass you or hurt your feelings, or it could be someone who is jealous or narcissistic and their “opinion” is based purely on a need to destroy the competition and if you are asking them to evaluate you, you are leaving yourself open to having your self-image dismantled. This a the tactic of the covert narcissist. So if you are basing your self-worth on feedback, you will never know for sure how you should feel about yourself. If you need validation, then you are already suffering from low self-esteem. I believe that this is the basis for being true to yourself. If you can feel the actual power emanating from deep within your personal aura, you will glow and people will take notice. This, of course, will bring out the detractors, those who want to put you in your place. They will feel something different about you and find it unsettling. They will feel a need to disrupt that energy because, on a subconscious level, their own self-esteem is being threatened. If they can get to you, get you to lose your cool, then maybe you are not really as confident in yourself as you thought you were. This is not some sort of esoteric “nothingness”. This is not about having no ego. This is about constantly striving to reach those higher vibrational levels and levels of awareness. Don’t take shame in your ego but don’t let it control you either. You need to feel your own power. You have to know it for what it is and what you are capable of and never be ashamed of what you have but also never allow self-importance and arrogance to take over. This is a very tricky thing to accomplish.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The first, most important quality is personal integrity. If you can’t be true to yourself, then how can you be honest with others? Living under a pretense or false narrative is how many people in the world operate. They hide behind their facade, their image. Their true self is never revealed except to those who have developed their intuitive abilities to the level where they can see past the facade. If your self-image is based purely on optics, eventually that illusion will falter. When disillusionment occurs, that can be devastating for some people because their persona becomes their identity and when they lose their identity, that becomes a crisis. The second most important quality is to avoid being led by indoctrination or dogma. Don’t be rigid in your beliefs. Have an open mind. Explore the possibilities. Many people in the world today are locked into a belief system based on mythology. These myths are just metaphors used to describe the metaphysical world and over the centuries, they have become doctrine and therefore have lost their true meaning. There are entire belief systems based on one individual claiming some sort of direct link to the ultimate divinity. Entire cults have been created, some of them lasting for centuries. The reality of our existence is not based on a fairy tale but most people in the world are not ready for the truth, as it would destroy the illusion and the destruction of that illusion would create total anarchy. Social engineering is a tool used to keep people in line and if people knew the actual truth, the social structure as we know it today would collapse. and their place in the world would evaporate. I cover this topic more in my upcoming book, Psychic Warfare. The third most important quality is evolution. You are in this world to meet the challenges of this existence. How you handle adversity is how you evolve. Where you end up in the afterlife is more about your spiritual evolution and vibrational level than it is about any doctrine based on salvation or societal compliance. Once you leave that indoctrination behind, you are free to discover exactly what you, as a spiritual being, are capable of and the possibilities are endless.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
There are actually three books that have played an important role in my personal development. The first was the Book of Job in the Old Testament, specifically the 11th Chapter. I was questioning many things that I had been led to believe in my religious upbringing. I could not possibly continue to follow the doctrine I had been led to believe was the truth without testing the boundaries of that belief system, so I opened the Bible to whatever page it would land on for an answer. The 11th Chapter of Job was the page that I came to. The story of Job, of course, is a myth, an allegory. It basically describes the concept of someone going through tribulation and the contemplation some people have because they cannot understand why these things are happening to them. ‘What did I do to deserve this?” is the question they often ask. If you know the story of Job, you understand that he was experiencing much personal trauma as a result of a challenge that Satan posed to God. Job was questioning why he was going through so much trauma and his friends came to his aid to comfort him and try to help him find answers. The 11th Chapter is a monologue given by one of Job’s friends, Zophar, who tells Job that the wisdom of God is so vast that most people in the world could not possibly comprehend it all. This statement sent me on my own personal quest for knowledge, which led me to the writings of Carlos Castaneda, specifically his book Tales of Power. Carlos Castaneda wrote of a man many believe to be fictional. His name was Don Juan. Regardless of whether or not Don Juan was fictional, the wisdom of his words still rings true. The instructions that he gave to his mentee helped Castaneda understand the limitless universe and how to manipulate those universal forces. The third most important book was Friedrich Nietzsche’s The Anti-Christ. In this book, Nietzsche discusses the need for constant spiritual evolution rather than being locked into a dogma that promotes weakness and pity.
