Meet Kevin Myles

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kevin Myles. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kevin below.

Kevin, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

One thing I’ve learned about self-esteem is that it is often sparked externally. If you know that someone believes in you then it becomes easier to believe in yourself. Then it’s just a matter of continuing to grow that. For me, it was learning the positive impact I could have on others. I could see things in people that they often couldn’t see in themselves. There are so many people who are amazing and just don’t seem to know it. Then as I stepped back I could see that I was similar in a lot of ways, too focused on mistakes and shortcomings and not as much on accomplishments and possibilities.

Out of necessity I had to become more out going and “friendly” because as I journeyed through fitness and went from being skinny to be bigger and stronger, my quiet/shy demeanor was often perceived as intimidating and scary. That was definitely not how I wanted to make anyone feel so that was motivation for me to become more open and outgoing. The process led to a lot of self work which of course help accelerate my self-esteem and confidence.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Fitness-Life Coach and Fitness Educator with over forty years of experience working in the fitness industry. I integrate life coaching principles like discovering and uninstalling limiting beliefs with the best training and nutrition information to help people achieve their greatest possible transformations.

Along with being a multi-certified training and nutrition specialist, I own and operate several fitness websites including Bodysport.coach. I am also a book author and have created and published ten online fitness education courses. I’ve previously worked as a Gold’s Gym manager, a magazine editor, and an associate publisher. As a trainer and coach my clients range from being complete beginners to professional athletes.

Most importantly, I absolutely love fitness and the amazing impact it has had on my life and the lives of others. I discovered fitness at a young age through playing multiple sports and developed a passion for it. It goes well beyond physical transformation and extends into health, energy, longevity, positive outlook, relationships, self-esteem, community, and the ability to impact others. I truly believe that if more people understood all they would get from following a fitness lifestyle more people would take up that journey.

After many years of doing traditional personal training, fitness coaching, and contest prep coaching for physique competitors, I’ve evolved into incorporating personal growth and development and mindset coaching as well. By partnering these approaches I can help people make an even greater and more lasting transformation.

I’m excited to launch a new website very soon (Bodysport University) and to be an executive contributor with Brainz Magazine. I also have an online shop in partnership with a holistic wellness company that manufactures all-natural nutrition supplements, organic skin care products, and natural, food-grade pet care products. I have a mission to try and help people live longer, happier, and healthier lives by providing them with information and inspiration and leading by example. My fitness journey has been very unscripted but a true blessing to experience!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I would say the three most impactful skills that have helped me are patience, a willingness to keep learning, and being able to maintain a passion and joy for what I’m doing. They all interrelate and allow me to continue to improve, learn, and grow. This keeps everything fresh and new and keeps me from ever thinking that I have all the answers so I will never be bored and can be easily inspired by others even if they are a complete beginner.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I love doing collaborations and being connected with other fitness leaders. I like to do feature articles and podcasts on inspiring or accomplished fitness professionals and/or fitness business owners on my website Bodysport. I have also collaborated with some great fitness pros on online fitness education courses as well as on a book.

Also, the holistic wellness company I partner with and have an online shop with allows me to “plant” shops with other interested parties. So they can have their own shop of high-quality nutritional supplements and organic skincare products with no starting or monthly cost. It’s a great way to help even more people while creating an additional income stream with no risk at all. Anyone interested in learning more about working with me can email or message me at any time at [email protected] or find me through my website: https://bodysport.coach
