Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kevin Veal. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kevin, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Once I’ve noticed what I do seems to be very hard for other; in which was easy for me. I knew this is something that I was born to and make my mark on this earth. That’s how I knew being a artist is my purpose.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As an artist I’ve been focusing getting my work out there more through social media platforms like Instagram: m_c_kev. Also I’ve been putting myself out there by having exhibitions. In which I have one coming up Sept.21 at the Rye Arts Center in Rye NY.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that were essential to my growth and development were: patience. Consistency and discipline. It took those qualities for me to excel. The advice I give people when it comes to art is in order to better oneself and skill; you must accept the fact you’re going to make many mistakes. But in each mistake they’ll be a lesson you’ll learn so embrace it and don’t beat yourself up over it. That’s how you grow!
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The most impactful book that had an affect on my life is What Makes The Great,Great by Dennis P. Kimbro. That book inspired me and gave me the confidence to give my all and put in the work! The wisdom and understanding of me as a person began growing more insight; that transcended to everything I do.
