Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Keyanna Montague. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Keyanna, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
When people ask me where I get my resilience from, I always smile — because it’s not something I just woke up with one day. It’s been built over time, through lessons, love, and a lot of life.
I grew up watching my mom raise three girls with strength, faith, and grace. She had help along the way, but she led our home with so much heart and determination. She showed me that being strong doesn’t mean carrying everything on your shoulders — it means showing up with faith, even when life gets heavy.
Those lessons became the foundation for how I move through life. I’ve faced relationships that tested my peace and my purpose. I’ve had to let go of people I cared deeply for — not because I stopped loving them, but because I finally realized I needed to love myself more. Each time I walked away from what wasn’t serving me, I found a new piece of who I was becoming.
And through it all, I never stopped pushing forward. After having my daughter — and while already working in my corporate career for nearly 20 years — I went back and earned my college degree. That chapter was a reminder that it’s never too late to bet on yourself. It took late nights, early mornings, and plenty of prayer, but I did it. I did it for her, and I did it for me.
So, when I talk about resilience, I’m not talking about being perfect or unshaken. I’m talking about being real — about walking through heartbreak, showing up tired, finishing what you started, and still choosing joy.
My mom gave me the blueprint. Life gave me the tests. And through it all, faith gave me the strength to keep building, again and again.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m the owner and founder of KK Sweets Boutique, affectionately known as The Cupcake Dealer — a name that represents more than just desserts. It’s a lifestyle, a brand built on joy, creativity, and connection. I specialize in gourmet cupcakes, cake jars, mini Bundt cakes, brownies, and cake shooters — each made from scratch with love and a touch of personality. Every flavor tells a story — from my KK Signature Vanilla and Biscoff Dream Delight to Strawberry Crunch and Butter Pecan Praline — they all carry a little piece of my journey.
What excites me most about what I do is the way my treats bring people together. Whether it’s corporate events, client appreciation, birthdays, or “just because” moments, I get to be part of people’s celebrations. I love when clients tell me that my desserts made their meeting, event, or family dinner “a little sweeter.” That’s the magic — knowing something I created in my kitchen made someone smile.
KK Sweets Boutique is also grounded in purpose. Through my philanthropic arm, The Sweet Side of Service, I give back to the community — whether it’s supporting local organizations, youth programs, or small business initiatives. I believe sweetness should be shared, both in taste and in spirit.
Right now, I’m expanding my brand in new and exciting ways. I’m preparing for holiday launches, corporate gifting packages, and continuing to grow partnerships with local real estate firms, HR teams, and community organizations. I’m also developing a children’s coloring book that teaches kids math and science through baking — because I want to inspire the next generation to dream big and create with confidence.
At its core, KK Sweets Boutique is about more than desserts — it’s about legacy, love, and leaving a little sparkle (and frosting) wherever I go.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that shaped my journey most are faith, resilience, and adaptability — and each one was tested, stretched, and strengthened over time.
Faith has always been my foundation. It’s what kept me grounded when life didn’t go as planned and when I had to start over more than once. My advice to anyone just beginning their journey: stay connected to your source — whatever that looks like for you. Faith isn’t just spiritual; it’s the belief that even when you can’t see the outcome, you still move forward, trusting that every step has purpose.
Resilience came from experience. I didn’t build it overnight — it was shaped through setbacks, heartbreaks, and new beginnings. For those early in their journey, don’t fear failure. Every “no,” every disappointment, every closed door teaches you something about who you are and what you’re capable of. Learn from it, grow through it, and let it make you stronger — not bitter.
Adaptability became my secret strength. After nearly 20 years in corporate America before stepping into full-time entrepreneurship, I learned how important it is to pivot. Life changes fast — and business changes even faster. Be open to learning, networking, and embracing the unknown. Growth doesn’t live in your comfort zone.
And one more thing — don’t let fear stop you from moving forward, personally or professionally. Fear is a stronghold that can keep you stuck if you let it. You have to break through it to reach your next level. Believe in yourself, even when others don’t see your vision. Not everyone will understand your dream or be meant to walk the full journey with you — some people are only in your life for a season to help you grow. The key is knowing when to let go and when to keep moving.
If you hold on to your faith, stay flexible, and trust yourself enough to keep going, you’ll find that everything meant for you will meet you right where you are — in your next bold step forward.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely. Collaboration is at the heart of what I do. I love connecting with individuals and organizations that share a passion for community, creativity, and creating memorable experiences.
I’m always open to partnering with corporate teams, event planners, real estate professionals, HR departments, schools, and nonprofit organizations who want to add a personal, memorable touch to their events or employee appreciation initiatives. My brand specializes in custom-branded desserts and corporate gifting — including gourmet cake jars, mini Bundt cakes, and cupcakes designed to make any occasion unforgettable.
I would also love the opportunity to collaborate with the Jacksonville Jaguars, serving their suite clients and in-house baking needs through custom-branded cake jars and sweet treats. In addition, I’m excited about the possibility of partnering with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, our city’s Triple-A baseball team, to provide branded dessert experiences for their fans, events, and venue offerings. These collaborations would beautifully merge my passion for creativity, sports, and community — bringing local flavor and sweetness to every occasion.
Beyond corporate collaborations, I enjoy connecting with local small business owners, women entrepreneurs, and community leaders to support one another through pop-ups, events, and charitable initiatives. My philanthropic arm, The Sweet Side of Service, focuses on giving back through youth programs and community outreach — because success means more when it’s shared.
If you’re reading this and thinking, “We could do something great together,” I’d love to hear from you. From boardrooms to ballgames, I’m ready to bring KK Sweets Boutique to new heights — one partnership, one dessert, and one smile at a time.
