Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Khadijah Savane. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Khadijah , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience has been shaped by the profound experiences of losses (death) and divorce during my twenties and thirties. Rather than letting these challenges define me, I’ve embraced them as reminders that after every hardship, ease will eventually follow. Just as flowers bloom even after the fiercest storm, I’ve learned that growth and beauty emerge from even the darkest of times. These trials have strengthened my belief in the inevitability of renewal, teaching me to trust in life’s cycles of struggle and recovery.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Please confirm your okay with this:
Khadijah embarked on a mission to create a haven for women seeking solace and healing. Thus, the Rest with Grace retreat was born—a sanctuary where women could gather to honor their experiences and simply be themselves. Within the
nurturing embrace of the retreat, Khadijah provides a safe space for women to confront their pain, find solace, and embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Through guided meditations, healing workshops, and supportive community, the retreat became a transformative oasis where women are left feeling renewed and empowered. Khadijah’s vision of Rest with Grace resonates deeply with women from all walks of life, inspiring them to tap into their inner strength and embrace their true potential.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say: Self-awareness, Empathy (especially showing myself grace, Authenticity.
In life, especially as a young Black woman, there are certain qualities that can guide you through your journey of growth, resilience, and success. Don’t be afraid to sit with yourself, lead with mindfulness.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I’m big on pausing and breathing. Being still, literally. Taking a few minutes to acknowledge what I’m feeling. I ask myself is this something I can’t control. Is it time to delegate some of my work and projects. Is it time to completely decompress and step away.
Don’t be afraid to do mindful journaling. It’s one of the best strategies to help you navigate your emotions of feeling overwhelmed.
