Meet KHAI Designsz

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful KHAI Designsz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

KHAI, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I maintain my creativity by staying curious, inspired, and committed to continuous growth. I actively seek out new ideas, trends, and perspectives, while also making time to explore beyond the screen; whether through art, music, nature, or everyday experiences. I believe that creativity thrives in an open mind, so I approach each project with fresh eyes and a willingness to think differently. I also challenge myself to push past comfort zones and experiment with new styles or techniques when the opportunity arises. By staying connected to both my creative intuition and the evolving design world, I ensure that every project I deliver is not only original but meaningful and impactful.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Thank you for the opportunity to share my story. My name is Khai, and I’m the founder and creative force behind Khai Designsz, a design studio rooted in purpose, originality, and impact. What started as a personal passion for visual storytelling has grown into a business dedicated to helping brands bring their visions to life through thoughtful and striking design. I specialize in brand identity, digital design, and creative direction, offering both full-service brand packages and individual design solutions tailored to each client’s unique goals.

What excites me most about this work is the transformation. There’s something incredibly powerful about taking someone’s ideas and turning them into a visual identity that not only looks beautiful but also feels authentic and aligned with who they are. Design isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about connection, clarity, and making an impression that lasts.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding the services Khai Designsz offers and creating new, value-packed brand packages to serve both new and established businesses. I’ve also been working on collaborations with other creatives and exploring ways to offer educational resources for aspiring designers and entrepreneurs. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to refresh your brand, my goal is to create designs that truly resonate and elevate your presence.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities that have shaped my journey are creativity, resilience, and a deep understanding of branding strategy. Each of these has played a crucial role in helping me navigate the challenges of running a design business and grow as a professional.

Creativity is obviously at the core of what I do. But over time, I’ve learned that it’s not just about being “artistic”, it’s about problem-solving. The ability to think outside the box and approach design challenges with fresh perspectives is what sets great designers apart. My advice here would be to constantly experiment and never be afraid to push your own boundaries. Keep creating, even when you don’t feel inspired, because creativity thrives in action.

Resilience has been just as important. The road to building a successful business isn’t always smooth, there are setbacks, mistakes, and moments of self-doubt. The key is to stay committed and learn from every experience. To anyone just starting out, remember that failure is part of the process. Don’t be afraid to stumble, because each challenge teaches you something valuable.

Lastly, branding strategy has been essential in understanding the bigger picture behind design. It’s not enough to make something look good; it needs to communicate clearly and align with a brand’s values and goals. To build on this, I’d recommend learning as much as you can about branding, dive into marketing, consumer psychology, and business strategy. Understanding your client’s needs and the way design can drive their success is just as important as the design itself.

For those early in their journey, I would say: don’t rush the process. Be patient, stay curious, and always keep learning. The skills and knowledge you build will come together over time, and as you grow, so will your ability to make a meaningful impact.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely! I’m also very interested in collaborating with professionals in the beauty industry, whether you’re a salon owner, makeup artist, skincare specialist, or beauty influencer. The beauty industry is all about making people feel confident and showcasing individuality, which aligns perfectly with the work I do in design. I’d love to partner with beauty service providers who are looking to refresh or elevate their brand, create stunning marketing materials, or establish a memorable visual identity that resonates with their audience.

If you’re in the beauty industry and want to collaborate on creating a brand that truly reflects the essence of your services, I’d love to hear from you! Whether it’s a complete brand overhaul, social media design, or even just a custom logo or promotional materials, I’m excited to work with beauty professionals who are passionate about their craft and looking to stand out.
