Meet Khalilah Morris

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Khalilah Morris . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Khalilah , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I believe I was born into my purpose. It was no mistake that I belong to a Feen’s Family. I just had to have the confidence to share my story.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hi my name is Khalilah Morris and I am 4 time Author & Writing Coach. I have self published A Feen’s Family, Behind the Smoke Journal, Push Through, & This is why we say no. My story explains how families are couping with substance abuse. I may not be an expert but I have second experience with family & drug addiction. That is what I am known for. I spread Smoke in a different way. You may ask What is Smoke. For those that dont know. Smoke is the drama that you are experiencing in your life. Given my common question to all, are you ready for the Smoke?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’m not afraid to speak on the traumatic experiences I had to deal with when my family was abusing drugs.
My experience gave me the courage to write my story and share with others that maybe ashamed of their family past.
I became more knowledgeable on how to help others to share their experiences the way I did.
If your just beginning your journey as an author I would suggest getting a writing coach as I did. I reached out to lady Ty The Great & three years later she is still guiding me in my writing journey.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My biggest area in growth has been public speaking. My biggest accomplishment in this area was when I spoke on the panel for the Black Author Matter book tour. It was my first In person panel. And I was very afraid. I had to ask myself. How will you be able to blow Smoke if you are afraid to talk in front of a crowd. And I finished and watched to video. It was great. Not saying that I wouldn’t be nervous again. But I definitely won’t be as scared as the first time.
