My name is Khushi Patel, and I’m the founder of XVI, a skincare brand rooted in holistic self-care. XVI was born from my passion for wellness and the belief that skincare should be more than a routine—it’s an opportunity to reconnect with yourself and promote overall well-being.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three key qualities were most impactful in my journey: resilience, curiosity, and the ability to connect with people.
Resilience: Building a brand like XVI came with its fair share of challenges—from navigating uncertainty to learning through mistakes. Resilience allowed me to keep pushing forward, even when things didn’t go as planned. My advice for developing resilience is to embrace challenges as opportunities to grow and to focus on small, consistent progress. Surrounding yourself with supportive people also helps keep you motivated during tough times.
Curiosity: A willingness to learn has been invaluable. Whether it was understanding skincare science, marketing strategies, or customer needs, curiosity helped me stay adaptable and open to new ideas. For those starting out, I’d suggest cultivating a habit of asking questions, seeking mentors, and staying updated on industry trends. Never stop being a student—there’s always something to learn.
The Ability to Connect with People: Building authentic relationships with customers, collaborators, and my team has been crucial. Listening to feedback, understanding others’ perspectives, and sharing my vision helped build trust and a sense of community. To improve this skill, focus on being a good listener, communicating openly, and showing genuine appreciation for others.
For anyone early in their journey, I’d emphasize the importance of patience and persistence. Building something meaningful takes time, so celebrate small wins along the way and stay connected to your “why.” These qualities and skills aren’t developed overnight but grow with consistent effort and intentionality.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Our ideal client is someone who values the importance of self-care and believes that skincare is more than just a routine—it’s a way to nurture their mind, body, and spirit. They appreciate high-quality, thoughtfully crafted products that not only deliver results but also align with their desire for mindfulness and intentional living. They are curious and open to exploring holistic practices, like facial massage and reflexology, to elevate their skincare rituals. They seek balance in their lives and understand that taking care of their skin is an act of self-love and empowerment.
Above all, our ideal client values the deeper meaning behind XVI. They resonate with our commitment to creating products that inspire confidence, promote well-being, and contribute to a world filled with positivity and kindness.
