Hi Khyree, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

In all honesty my purpose found me. I’ve always loved music. It’s one of the things I can say I believe is apart of everyone’s lives. When I was younger I remember my mother cleaning on sundays playing songs. My life story has not always been the brightest. I can say there were plenty of dark times . Instead of focusing on those Dark times and letting it consume me it was music that helped me get through it. I can’t think of a time where music wasn’t ever a focus. I believe being an artist was made for me. It’s one of the things I didn’t have to question it made sense. I had the same feeling when I was younger as I do know; I was simply supposed to make music for a living .

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Darkrose. I’m an independent an artist / Musician from Nashville Tennessee . You can find me on Spotify or all streaming platforms. I currently have over 55 Million streams & I make music for a living. I express my emotions & creativity through songs. I share it for the world to listen to and relate with. The most exciting thing for me is the entire process from writing to recording or finding a concept for visuals for it. I’m in love with music and the power to create it . I view my talent as a form of art and I am the artist. I make ambient rap or anything I feel honestly. I don’t like to put a barrier on how I can create because I find the entire process of making music interesting. I recently released a E.P titled “ Made In Pain” which I am very proud of. I recently signed with GE management which has opened up a world of opportunities for me. I have multiple shows coming and I will be going on tour back to back for my first time this year. Aside from that I’ll be releasing various music videos and music to show the world of my artistic talent.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three skills or qualities that were the most impactful in my journey would have to be Praying/ Manifestation, Taking Risks, and investing into yourself. If I could give people who are early in their journey any advice it would be to apply that to yourself. I’m a firm believer in the universe and a higher power as well as manifestation. If you pray for it and you put the work in you will receive it. You have to believe in what you want even when you are at your lowest. You have to work for it because it doesn’t just come to you magically. You have to put in effort and the rest will fall in place. If you don’t take risks for yourself you don’t receive rewards. I know it can be scary sometimes breaking from what you are comfortable with but it has to be done. You have to want it more than anything. You have to be open to making a commitment to change your life so it works. Most importantly you have to invest in yourself. I couldn’t put in numbers how much I invested in myself over my entire career but you must. Once you start taking your music and self like a business you will see how much time you will save yourself in the future. Invest in studio time , invest in recording equipment if you want to do it yourself. Invest in music videos and promo and getting yourself a BMI & Ascaap account to get all your royalties. Invest in a manager with a team who can open doors for you and take you to the next level. Once you invest in yourself you will be amazed at what you can accomplish.
