Meet Kiana Jay

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kiana Jay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kiana, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Finding my “purpose” has been a lifelong struggle for me. I knew since I was a child what I wanted to do but I never knew how to navigate that. I spent most my life feeling like my dreams were so far out of reach. I was filled with constant self doubt. I felt like I was aimlessly living. It was only until recency that I started to figure out my purpose. I knew the traditional route of attend college, get married, start a family, and work a mundane career was never going to be for me. I found god, social media, and started placing value in the things that get overlooked societally. I never needed a ton of money, high placement in the hierarchy, or materialism to prove my worth. I wake up daily driven by my relationship with religion, family, and utilizing my health and creativity.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a social media content creator. I post photos and short form videos online showcasing my comedy style and fitness journey. I love to make my audience feel like they can relate, laugh, and take inspiration from my content. I prioritize mental health and in result turn to humor and working out to do so.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most impactful skills for my journey have been listening, consistency, and faith. Listen more than you speak. There are so many individuals with life changing wisdom to offer. Ignorance will only restrict you. Value your elders. Staying consistent throughout your journey is going to be the most crucial ingredient. Consistency is one of the hardest traits to possess but will be the only way to guide you to success. Having faith is another important key to growth. Believing in yourself when no one else does is what will result in you coming out on the other side. If I had let the doubt of others overtake my drive, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Trust the journey.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed I nurture myself. I take myself out on a date. We often undermine how we treat ourselves. You need to get optimal sleep, reward your body with the right foods, and prioritize mental and physical health. If we are not well enough to take care of ourselves then we cannot be expected to give back to those around us. I give myself a day to rest, go for a hike, or go to my favorite restaurant. I dedicate time with myself and for myself.
