We were lucky to catch up with Kiana Ware recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kiana , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
As a child, I spent a lot of time at the hair salon because my grandmother was a cosmetologist. My sister and I spent many weekends in the shop sweeping, washing towels, and cleaning the back room. I found being at the hair salon a joy of mine and wanted to pursue the field. After watching my grandmother freestyle some clients hair and create masterpieces, I realized I might not have the creativity needed at the time to become a hair stylist. But nonetheless, it sparked my interest in the beauty world. The smiles on her clients faces when leaving the salon was something I wanted to give the world as well. From then on, I researched and learned about different careers under a cosmetology license and came across estheticians. My love for beauty quickly found its lane and I was ready to jump into the career full on. I thank my grandmother for showing us hard work in the salon because it is the reason I am standing in my own business today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a Claflin University graduate with a degree in Biology, I love the science behind life. Skin being the body’s largest organ, I was intrigued to start a business around it. In 2022, I became a licensed esthetician and business owner of The Skin KLUB: Keys Leading to Ultimate Beauty. With a focus on brow wax and tint, as well as customized skincare treatments, I strive to give my clients a luxury experience every time they relax on my table. Individualizing every facial at every appointment yields many results along with big smiles. I have recently started a YouTube channel, @theskinklub, to spread knowledge about skin and owning a business while managing everyday life. I will be expanding into many business ventures that will include exclusive behind the scenes footage on the channel. I encourage you to subscribe and #JoinTheKlub!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The 3 Keys Leading to Ultimate Beauty are patience, consistency, and confidence! Patience is the #1 Key to life! Nothing good happens overnight. Whether it’s skincare, relationships, businesses or success, it all takes time and hard work. Your skincare obstacles and challenges developed over time and in turn will need time to go away. This is equivalent to everyday life. Work for the things you want to succeed at without rushing the process, instead, enjoy the labor to reveal the fruit! Consistency goes hand and hand with patience because you have to have discipline to not give up. The bigger picture may not be revealed in the time frame you set but that doesn’t mean you should reconsider your goals. Like Dory said on Finding Nemo, “Just keep swimming!” In the mist of patience and consistency, you will notice your confidence will skyrocket. This is because you have found your purpose and have the necessary foundation to walk in it with your head held high. Following these 3 Keys will reveal your Ultimate Beauty like never before!
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I could write a book to describe all the things my parents have done for me. But the most impactful thing would be them believing in me. Everything I’ve ever said I wanted to accomplish, they were cheering for me the entire way and pushing me to become the best at it. Since a child, my parents have invested into me and my siblings with their whole heart just to see us smile. Having them for my support system has allowed me to become the woman I am today. I will forever be grateful for their love.
