Hi Kiana, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Growing up, there weren’t a lot of women that looked like me that I could look up too. So I became my own inspiration and from there, my self esteem bloomed! I wanted to represent for all the realistic plus size woman and that takes a certain type of confidence only found within!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a freelance model that specializes in plus size specifically. Companies hire me to model their extended sized clothing! It has been the most rewarding journey. I always loved being in front of a camera growing up, so this career was just fitting! I’ve traveled to work with some amazing companies over the years. However my favorites would have to be Clinique and Dixxon Flannel Co. This year, I am focusing on building back up my portfolio and more work!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
If you’re just starting your journey, patience is going to be your number one. Next, you have to be willing to accept rejection and a LOT of it. You may not be what a brand is looking for and that’s okay. On to the next! Also, I can say with confidence that you have to be outgoing. The better you connect to a brand, the more likely they are to use you again.
