Meet Kiara Ayres

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kiara Ayres a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Kiara with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I grew up in a military family. Both my parents served in the Army and grandparents in the Air force. To specify, bering raised by grandparents, with my mimi being a retired lieutenant colonel and a flight nurse while serving, and my poppop being a retired full bird, structures in the household were very, very serious. I’ve danced since I was 3 years old, began concert dance at 6, and started competing when I was 11. Dance plus school times hardworking grandparents equals unstoppable willpower.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As of right now, I am a contemporary dancer, independent model while styling, taking, and editing my own photos, and spend much time creating fun and unique 3D nail designs. Recently, I have taken on streaming doing these activities + gaming, and also working on a few songs to release that would help heal with the passing of my mimi. My brand name is actually ‘ADHD’, but spelled 88hdee, because my entire life, I have had high, obnoxious energy and many interests. I spent majority of my childhood refining my dance training, and improving my modeling skills from age 14 after having got my first camera, but i have always been a crafty, bubbly person. My favorite thing for people to know about my work is that I take my own photos. I’ve done so since I was a child, and will continue to do so. Despite my sporadic posting throughout the years, the multi-facetted beauty mogul title has been the ultimate goal when producing artwork and content. It takes a bit of trial and error to figure out what sticks, but the certainty is always that something will eventually stick, in terms of how I let the world know all of what I do.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Persistence, discipline, and organization are three crucial qualities that can impact your journey positively. Confidence in your own capabilities goes miles, and trust that the quality of your work can always improve. Most importantly, it’s essential to take care of your brain and your body. Being neurodivergent and overcoming daily challenges such as anxiety paralysis or depression cycles are things to personally wrangle and take responsibility for. Things such as being properly medicated, stretching or exercise, and a proper diet should aid in a more balanced approach on tasks.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

I chose this option even though it’s about my grandparents, but more importantly my mimi. She instilled a level of confidence in me that I am not sure I could have found in anything else throughout life. From strong decision making skills to being unafraid to put myself out there. Both of my grandparents left so much room for me to decide what I like to do, and how to spend my time. Everything I do today is something my mimi would have loved to watching me do, and brag to her friends about. That’s what keeps me going, continuing to make her proud.
