We recently connected with Kiara Weibel and have shared our conversation below.
Kiara , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
**Where Do I Get My Resilience From?**
My resilience comes from surviving hard times—times I was certain would take me out. I’ve lived through moments that I watched destroy the people I loved. Moments that almost destroyed me, too. But somehow, I’m still here. This August, I’ll celebrate six years clean and sober from drug addiction.
It wasn’t until I began creating a life of purpose through my art that I truly started to heal. That’s when I finally learned to enjoy my own company, to sit with myself and not feel like running. My resilience comes from my ability to adapt—from accepting that life isn’t fair or easy, and finding beauty in that duality.
I’ve survived more than I can put into words, and I’ve always found the strength to get up again, even when I’ve fallen harder than I thought I could handle. I’ve learned that my life was never happening *to* me—it was happening *for* me. Every trial, every heartbreak, every failure was a lesson I was meant to learn. And I’m still learning.
My story, my growth, none of it is an accident. It’s all part of a greater journey, designed specifically for me. I believe in divine timing. I know that growth never comes easy—it’s born from pain, from discomfort, from digging deep.
Today, my peace was earned. It was carved out through years of chaos and heartbreak. I crawled through the shards of a broken life, from a place where I felt worthless, hopeless, and afraid—into a place where I can now honor and value who I am.
It took harshness to teach me softness. It took pain to teach me grace. And now, I carry both with care.
My resilience comes from knowing that everything I’ve endured shaped me into the person I am today—and nothing can take that from me. When one door closes, another always opens. I believe in myself because I’ve witnessed my own strength. I’ve proven my power by simply surviving. By continuing to rise.
That’s what resilience is: choosing, every single day, to keep going. And building a life rooted in peace, passion, and purpose—one I created for myself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve always been an artist—for as long as I can remember, the need to create has been a constant in my life. No matter the medium, that drive has never left me. Over the years, I’ve explored many forms of expression, and I’d describe myself as a mixed media, eclectic artist.
Lately, my focus has been on resin art—specifically creating one-of-a-kind art toy figures. My most recent work involved creating custom 1/1 Sonny Angel dolls, which quickly gained popularity, with every collection selling out instantly. Unfortunately, that momentum was disrupted when the Sonny Angel brand issued a cease and desist, labeling my customized figures as “counterfeit.” Despite being entirely original works of art, one-of-a-kind pieces, they attempted to shut it down.
Instead of backing down, I chose to pivot. I’ve now shifted my focus to the iconic Kewpie doll—an original design from the early 1900s that actually inspired the Sonny Angel aesthetic. Returning to this classic figure has opened up a whole new creative chapter for me, and I’m excited to keep exploring what’s possible within this space.
As for what’s next—honestly, I follow where my artistic vision takes me. I just launched my newest figure this week- an OG Kewpie Doll / Viral Labubu mash up called the “Kew BuBu” The first drop sold out in less than 10 minutes! I release new resin figure collections regularly through my Big Cartel shop: (https://kiloflow.bigcartel.com), and I keep my audience updated through Instagram and TikTok:

The future is always evolving, but one thing is certain—I’ll never stop creating.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My advice is to just keep creating- do not be afraid to take up space as an artist! The world needs you and your creative vision. You owe it to yourself to be unapologetically you! There will be a time in the beginning and possibly even months or years in where you feel like you are the only person listening. Keep sharing. Your audience will find you. You may reach point where it feels like the odds are stacked against you, You might feel invisible, keep sharing what you have to offer. Do not allow the algorithm or others negativity, to determine your worth as a creative. For the few trolls there are infinitely more people in your corner, loving and appreciating you and what you have to offer. Sometimes your light may even threaten peoples shadows and invoke something inside them that they are desperately hiding from. Do not allow that to stop you. Other peoples lack of capacity is not yours to carry. Your purpose and passion is yours to carry, and yours to share. You create your own value and worth as an artist, do not be afraid to dream big.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I was lucky to have parents who always encouraged my creativity. They always supported me in my artistic endeavors and still do. From encouraging me to enter the coloring contests in my local newspapers as a child, to showing out for my first art show as a teenager. I am very fortunate and I aspire to be the same type of mother to my own children, to nurture their innate creativity and relish in this phase of our lives together, getting to nurture my own inner child thru mothering them.
