Meet Kiawana Leaf

We were lucky to catch up with Kiawana Leaf recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiawana , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I developed my confidence and self-esteem through a journey of struggle, growth, and self-discovery. For a long time, I tried to fit into society’s definition of what confidence and beauty should look like. But in trying to meet those expectations, I lost sight of who I truly was. That disconnect caused my confidence and self-esteem to suffer.

It wasn’t until I endured personal trials, tests, tribulations, and even betrayal. That something powerful was awakened in me. Those experiences shaped my story and revealed a deeper purpose. Through them, I began to discover who I really am and what I’m called to do.

My confidence and self-worth were not built on the approval or validation of others, especially not from a man. They were restored and strengthened when I rooted my identity in Christ. From that foundation, my head lifted higher, my voice grew stronger, and I embraced the truth of who I was created to be that developed my confidence and self-esteem.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a mouthpiece and vessel called to empower and inspire others to do the same. As a best-selling author, my writing ignites readers to move from trauma to triumph and turning beauty from ashes. I encourage others to stop looking back at the pain that may be holding them back and instead pursue their purpose and destiny boldly, freely, proudly, and unapologetically.

I am also the founder of a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving women in my city. Through this work, I bridge gaps in the community by hosting events such as community baby showers, Mommy and Me gatherings, women’s empowerment events, health expos, and spiritual alignment workshops.

My passion is to help women rise from the graves of their past, because that is not their final destination. There is more work to do, more healing to experience, and greater purpose to fulfill.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Always remain a student! No matter how high you climb, stay teachable and humble. This mindset keeps your heart open to receive and your hands ready to give.

Never let anything silence your voice or dim the fire inside of you. That pressure to stay quiet is often a distraction meant to keep you stuck in your current condition. Don’t fall for it.

Never accept “no” as final answer. On my journey, I’ve heard plenty of “no’s”, people saying they wouldn’t invest, wouldn’t support, wouldn’t believe. But I turned those “no’s” into motivation. Eventually, they became “not right now,” and that shift pushed me to keep going.

There are three steps I’ve learned to live by and I’m still repeating them daily: stay hungry, stay humble, and stay in the room where growth happens. No matter how far I go, I never stop learning. I continue to perfect my craft, even when frustration rises. Because at the end of the day, my dream is my motivation.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

The Bible reminds us, “It is not good for man to be alone,” and we all know there’s no “I” in team. I’m building something rooted in purpose, service, and unity and I’m looking for like-minded men and women to build with.

If you’re ready to be the answer to your own problems. If you’re done waiting and ready to take action. If you have a heart to serve and a desire to give back…

Then YOU are who I’m looking for.

This is a call for selfless vessels, not selfish ambition. I want to collaborate with people who are passionate about creating spaces where others can rise, heal, and flourish. Together, we can build a haven for the next generation. Let’s lead. Let’s serve. Let’s make impact, together.
