Meet Kiera Doyle

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kiera Doyle. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kiera below.

Kiera , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I’ve always been driven to find meaning in what I do. Throughout my 20s, I was determined to figure out how I was going to make my mark on the world. I moved from Boston to New York City, diving into various roles as a writer, yoga instructor, and hairdresser before finally landing my “dream job” in corporate beauty. It felt like it had taken everything to get me there: sleeping on a friend’s couch, trying to break into my new city, completing 200 hours of yoga teacher training, waiting tables, and returning to my shoebox apartment with no AC. I endured 1,000 hours of cosmetology school while working as a cocktail server at night to pay the rent and my tuition. I learned the hard way that cutting hair (and the finger cuts) doesn’t blend well with squeezing citrus into cocktails on the same day. I did hundreds of shampoos and blow-dries as an apprentice in a downtown salon, wearing all black and disappearing into the scene.

There was so much grit, and such a deep desire to succeed.

Yet, even after earning the shiny dream job title and the corner office in the NYC high-rise, I still didn’t feel a sense of deep fulfillment. I imagined my purpose would be discovered in the next milestone, and then the next. On the eve of my 30th birthday, I gave a TEDx talk. I’ll never forget walking off the stage with this lingering feeling that something was missing.

Instead of it all coming together, it started to feel like it was all falling apart. I questioned what I was really here to do, and if not this: what?

Over the next few months, I was determined to find the answer.

And that’s when I discovered Human Design. Think of it as Myers-Briggs meets astrology. Human Design offers a blueprint for who you came into the world to be. It resonated with me on a profound level, and before it became my career, it served as the permission slip to be myself. As soon as I started applying the principles of Human Design to my life, my world began shifting. I was promoted at work. I felt so present and, for the first time, completely in my purpose—in every email I wrote and with every person I exchanged energy with, even if it was the barista at my local coffee shop. I quickly saw its potential to help others.

This experience made me realize that the specific job may change, the environments may change, but as long as the context of my purpose is big enough—aligning my skills with my core values—I won’t miss the mark. So instead of asking what one specific thing I came here to do, I now focus on who I came to be: someone who uses their skills and passions to help others be themselves, live authentically, and share their stories.

I have always been living my purpose—when I guided students through vinyasa flows on 42nd Street, when I brought the extra basket of warm bread and hummus to the table for hungry college students, at my shiny dream job, on the TEDx stage, and now as I share Human Design with the world. Whether in one-on-one sessions, workshops, or through my free content online, my DMs are flooded with people telling me that I’m helping them feel more themselves. The medium through which I share my purpose may shift again, but it will always be mine. It always has been.

If you’re stuck on what your purpose is, I invite you to zoom out. Go so big that when you aim, you cannot miss.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on my journey, there are three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that truly stand out:

1. Saying Yes to Expansion: Early on, I learned the importance of saying yes to opportunities that felt expansive. While the advice to “say yes to everything” can lead to burnout, I discovered the power of discerning between opportunities that ignite a sense of expansion versus those that don’t. I always say that yes it’s a true ‘yes’ it feels like a flower blooming inside of you, even if it’s intimidating. Take, for instance, the opportunity to deliver a TED talk—it was terrifying, but it felt expansive, so I knew I had to move forward despite the fear. Trying to conceive myself not to do the talk would feel like trying to out the petals back into the bud. It makes you feel smaller. My advice is to trust your instinct and intuition and embrace opportunities that resonate with your heart. You can also use your Human Design to help understand how you are designed to hear from your intuition and make decisions.

2. Resilience and Bounceback Rate: Running a business demands a resilient mindset. There are days when self-doubt creeps in, and challenges can feel overwhelming. What’s crucial is how quickly we bounce back. It’s normal to have moments of doubt or setbacks, but what matters most is how swiftly we recover and get back on track. It’s not about perfection—it’s about progressing in the face of adversity. My advice? Focus on resilience and the willingness to persevere, even when the journey gets tough.

3. Emotional Intelligence: Developing emotional intelligence has been another huge aspect of my journey and success. Emotional intelligence enables better communication, stronger relationships, and sound decision-making. Whether it’s empathy, self-awareness, or conflict resolution, honing emotional intelligence skills has been invaluable in both personal and professional contexts.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Over the past year, my biggest area of growth has definitely been in mastering time management and sharpening my sense of discernment. Welcoming motherhood into my life has completely reshaped how I approach my schedule and run my business. I’ve had to learn how to squeeze the most out of every moment because every hour dedicated to work is an hour away from my son.
I’ve become more efficient and effective in what I can accomplish within the limited time I have each day. It’s been a journey of discovery, finding ways to juggle business responsibilities while cherishing every precious moment with my little one. This newfound perspective has fueled my determination to craft a business that not only sustains me professionally but also grants me the freedom and flexibility to be present for my family.
To adapt to this new reality, I’ve embraced tools like automation and delegation, which have been game-changers in optimizing my productivity. These strategies have allowed me to focus on tasks that truly move the needle while entrusting others with tasks that can be delegated. Learning to prioritize and make intentional choices about where to invest my time and energy has been key in maintaining a sense of balance and fulfillment amidst the demands of motherhood and entrepreneurship.
In essence, the past year has been a profound journey of growth, learning, and adaptation. It’s been about finding harmony between my roles as a mother and a business owner, and discovering the beauty in every moment, both big and small.
