We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kierron Molet a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kierron, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?
I like this question-never looked at it quite like this.. I’d be confident in saying that the idea of “risk taking” came some time after high school. I realized that my greatest fear wasn’t of snakes or heights or the ocean (which are all completely valid) but rather the fear of regret. I have a hard time imagining myself living a life ten, twenty, thirty years from now where I’m constantly wondering “what if?”..:. What if I did this… what if I did that… what if I went there…. The development of my risk taking attitude definitely started after my decision to drop everything I ever knew and move to California to pursue a career in entertainment. From there I knew there was no going back, taking risks gets easier when there’s no other option. When you get to the point of no return, risk taking becomes a literal part of your daily life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Being a Denver native, I’m no stranger to high altitude but there’s no other feeling quite like living a life of an actor-talk about adrenaline. No day is the same as the last, good or bad. I always give credit where credit is due, big thanks to my family for instilling in me, drive, compassion and a work ethic that I feel is essential to have in anything one may set out to do in this life. By heart, I’m a goofy and lighthearted guy who loves making others laugh which has proved advantageous in this line of work but over the course of my acting career so far I have developed a more serious and mysterious side of myself that I’ve found to be equally beneficial. I’m grateful to have built a decent foundation and can’t wait for the world to see what I have in store. Lots of good stuff coming soon, several short films to be running festivals, a new feature in the works and a fun, nostalgic commercial finished strong.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Patience
2. Trust
3. More patience
This is something I’m still very much working on and will continue to be for a long time… This business especially but virtually anything you set out to do is going to require an excruciating amount of patience and understanding that nothing worth having comes easy [or fast]. Stay the course, know your path and trust the process.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Having someone to lean on is by far the most underrated luxury in life. I’m lucky to have found someone that has been my rock and can’t thank her enough for all that she has done for me. There’s no such thing as a “self made person”… we all need someone to help us and there’s nothing wrong with that. It doesn’t have to be a significant other but for me, my girlfriend, Lauren (Lo) has been a staple in my mental health and keeping me grounded when overwhelmed. Love you, momma!
