Meet Kiki Wixon

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kiki Wixon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kiki, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Discovering my purpose required a willingness to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new experiences. This initial decision, made 10 years ago, has been instrumental in shaping my journey. It began with an aerial class, an activity I had never attempted before. As I learned and grew, an opportunity emerged to perform and eventually teach. It was through this teaching that I discovered my true purpose. Guiding others on a similar path to the one I had taken years earlier was incredibly rewarding. Witnessing their accomplishments and seeing the positive impact I could have on their lives clarified my purpose. I realized that helping others discover their own potential and achieve their goals is where I am meant to be.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My movement journey began in 2015 at The Keep Yoga and Circus Arts (now Aerial Dragons), where I discovered a passion for ground acrobatics, aerial silks, and more. Just six months in, I took the stage for my first performance, a fundraising show to support the studio’s relocation. The thrill of sharing my hard work with an audience was intoxicating, and I was hooked. As I continued to hone my skills, I began assisting the owner Jessica King, eventually leading my own classes. This is where I found my true calling. Teaching wasn’t just about conveying information; it was about creating a safe, empowering space where students could grow. Seeing others master new skills filled me with a joy that surpassed even my own accomplishments. Through it all, I am forever grateful to my teachers, coaches, and fellow studios who’ve supported my growth. Their guidance has shaped my journey, and I’m thankful for the ongoing opportunities to learn from them. Fast forward nearly a decade, and I’ve become a seasoned performer, gracing the stage at countless events and shows. More importantly, I’ve inspired hundreds through my teaching. I believe in embracing the student mindset, always seeking knowledge to share. I’m on a mission to make it okay to be a beginner, to embrace the journey, and to own your growth with confidence.

After earning my associate’s degree, I began pursuing a bachelor’s in social work. However, an opportunity arose to work with an up-and-coming insurance agency. I obtained my insurance license and worked my way up to an administrative supervisor. I still work for that company part-time, which enables me to continue investing in my studio as we expand and strive to create the best class experience. Currently, my focus is on learning, adapting, and growing the business by trying new things and seeing what works and what doesn’t. I wear many hats and am extremely hardworking.I opened The House of Chrome Pole Fitness in April 2023, and since then, we have expanded to a second space and have a third location opening in 2025. This business is my main focus and is extremely special to me. It’s exciting to help people feel empowered and find their sensuality through pole dance. When I invested time in myself by starting pole dance, I began showing up differently outside of classes. I became more confident, held my head higher, and believed in myself more. My standards for myself rose in all areas, including relationships, time management, and nutrition.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three areas of knowledge that have had the most impact on my journey are work ethic, problem-solving, and leadership.

My advice to those early in their journey is to prioritize a healthy mindset. This can be cultivated by reading and listening to self-help material. When interacting with many people, it’s inevitable that you’ll encounter those who don’t like you, and unintentionally offend someone. By focusing on your mental well-being, you’ll be less reactive to others.

Carefully consider the company you keep. Do they inspire you or drain your energy? Do they encourage you to meet your full potential or promote negative behavior? Surround yourself with people who are excelling physically, mentally, and financially; their success will motivate you to improve. Observe their habits and seek out mentors. Avoid drama whenever possible. I maintain a zero-tolerance policy for drama.

Problem-solving is a skill that improves with practice. When challenges arise, seek advice and opinions, but make decisions and trust your instincts. Learn from the outcomes and apply those lessons when future problems emerge.

Leadership skills, while somewhat natural to me, have been refined through self-education and mentorship. Understanding the qualities and actions of effective leaders, then observing and learning from a mentor, have been instrumental in developing this skill.

My strong work ethic was modeled after my mother, who worked multiple jobs to provide for our family. I have strived to mirror her dedication and perseverance.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I take steps to identify the cause of my stress and develop a plan to mitigate it. I find it helpful to write down my tasks, complete them one by one, and cross them off my list. This visual reminder of my accomplishments boosts my productivity and motivation. I also make a point to take classes when I’m feeling overwhelmed. Delegating control and focusing on learning new skills helps me regain a sense of control. Practicing hot yoga is another strategy I use to disconnect from technology and recharge. This mindfulness practice helps me refocus and approach challenges with a clear mind.
