Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kiley Rhoades . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kiley, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
The past 12 years of life, including marriage and motherhood have taught be so much about confidence and what our culture esteems. There have been many years I was looking at the world around me with a scarcity mindset. Once I took the leap back into creating and not letting comparison or other obstacles keep me from trying, things really changed. The biggest change however was my perspective.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Kiley Rhoades. As far back as I can remember, painting, designing, fashion, and art have always been inspiring me. I jumped into a floral design business venture in 2018 after many years of creating pretty designs for friends and family. I had an opportunity in Colorado to do a wedding and I took on the challenge. Thrive Floral CO launched and it has been growing and evolving ever since. Recently I have incorporated my artwork into the business and it has been such a beautiful way to connect with others. Whether painting a commissioned piece for a client, or a wedding bouquet for a bride to enjoy forever, thinking and executing more creative designs into the business has been exciting!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back it has been important to foster healthy relationships with key partners. Vulnerability has allowed me to share my work with others. Not taking myself too seriously and really trying to serve my client has been greatly impactful.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I am overwhelmed the most helpful thing I have found is getting outside, taking a walk and stepping away for a bit. I will talk hurdles and strategies over with my husband, or a trusted network of comrades for ideas and trouble shooting. At the end of the day most of what feels overwhelming is solvable.
