Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kim Heuss. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Kim, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I thought about “When do I feel most alive”? The answer surprised me. It wasn’t in the moments that looked impressive on paper—it was in the moments I connected with others, created beauty, or offered something that made a difference in someone’s day.
That realization led me to flowers. What began as an interest quickly grew into something deeper. Designing with flowers felt like breathing life into art—it was a way to tell stories, to bring comfort, and to create moments people would remember forever. The first time I saw the joy and emotion a floral design brought to someone, it clicked: this wasn’t just decoration. It was connection, meaning, and celebration of life itself. My work with flowers solidified my purpose path, showing me that my creativity had the power to serve others in profound and lasting ways.
Purpose, I discovered is less about a single destination and more about alignment. It’s found where passion, talent, and service intersect. It’s in using the gifts I have—whether big or small—in ways that contribute meaningfully to others.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At Farmhouse Box and Bloom, flowers are more than petals and stems—they’re a way of telling stories, marking life’s milestones, and creating experiences that linger long after the last bloom fades. My work is rooted in the belief that florals can transform a moment into a memory, bringing beauty, emotion, and connection to every occasion.
What I Do
I specialize in designing florals that feel both luxurious and deeply personal. Weddings are at the heart of my work, and I pour creativity into every bouquet, centerpiece, and installation to reflect each couple’s unique love story. Whether it’s a romantic garden ceremony, a modern city celebration, or a whimsical countryside wedding, my goal is always the same: to create florals that feel alive with meaning and artistry.
Beyond weddings, Farmhouse Box and Bloom also provides flowers for life’s many occasions, celebrations, gatherings, and everyday moments that deserve to be made special. From intimate dinners to milestone events, my team and I bring thoughtful design and locally sourced blooms to every creation.
My Focus
What drives me is more than arranging flowers—it’s about creating an atmosphere. I focus on whimsical, romantic, and timeless designs that honor the natural beauty of each bloom while reflecting the personality and vision of my clients. Every detail matters, from the texture of a trailing vine to the way a bouquet feels in a bride’s hands. We source flowers seasonally and locally whenever possible, supporting farmers and ensuring our designs carry a connection to the land around us. This commitment brings authenticity and freshness to everything we create.
Our Brand
Farmhouse Box and Bloom was born from a love of beauty, nature, and heartfelt storytelling. Our brand is about more than florals—it’s about weaving together creativity, care, and connection. “Farmhouse” reflects our grounded, natural aesthetic; “Box” honors our early days creating curated floral boxes that brightened everyday moments; and “Bloom” speaks to what we continue to do today—bringing ideas and relationships to life through flowers.
At its heart, our brand is about serving people. Each design is crafted not only to look beautiful but to make people feel seen, celebrated, and loved. That’s the essence of Farmhouse Box and Bloom.
For 2026 we will continue to focus on wedding and florals for life’s occasions while also expanding our floral design classes both publicly held events and private programs.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When I look back on my journey with Farmhouse Box and Bloom, I see how certain qualities and skills were essential in shaping not only my path but also the heart of the business. For me, three qualities stand out as most impactful: creativity, resilience, and commitment to thriving.
1. Creativity: Seeing Beyond the Flowers
Creativity has always been the thread running through my life, but working with flowers gave it a voice. It’s not just about arranging blooms—it’s about storytelling. Every wedding or event is an opportunity to design something that feels personal and alive, something that reflects a moment in time.
Advice for others: Creativity is a muscle. The best way to grow it is by practicing it daily—experiment, play, and don’t be afraid to fail. The more you allow yourself to explore, the more original and authentic your work will become.
2. Resilience: Growing Through Challenges
There were seasons of uncertainty, unexpected obstacles, and moments of self-doubt. But resilience—the ability to keep showing up and adapt—has been what carried me through. Resilience turned setbacks into lessons and allowed me to see challenges not as roadblocks but as part of the journey.
Advice for others: Resilience doesn’t mean never stumbling; it means learning to get back up. When challenges come, pause, breathe, and remember why you started. That perspective will keep you moving forward.
3. Commitment to Thriving: Choosing Growth Over Survival
One of the biggest shifts for me was realizing that it wasn’t enough just to “get through” the hard seasons—I wanted to truly thrive. For me, that meant setting a higher standard for myself and my business: seeking joy, aiming for excellence, and making choices that allowed both me and Farmhouse Box and Bloom to flourish. Thriving isn’t about perfection; it’s about committing to growth, sustainability, and a vision that lifts others up along the way.
Advice for others: Thriving begins with mindset. Don’t settle for survival mode—look for ways to build rhythms that nourish your creativity, energy, and goals.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is someone who values beauty, creativity, and personal expression through flowers. Whether it’s for a wedding or an everyday bouquet, they appreciate whimsical, thoughtful arrangements that feel unique and curated just for them. They’re drawn to color, texture, and a sense of artistry, and they want flowers that evoke emotion and make moments feel memorable. Above all, they enjoy the experience of working collaboratively with a florist who can bring their vision to life with a touch of magic.
