Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kim Pagano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kim , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Firstly& foremost I had two amazing parents, from a very young age they gave me a gift, they believed in me and always said you can do anything you put your mind to.
I was always a really hard worker, I rarely took the the easy way, I think with my heart, mostly everything I do is heartfelt. My biggest lesson, was believing in myself, my dad always told me to look in the mirror and smile and believe in yourself, that wasn’t always easy, I used to ask a lot of people their opinions, I finally realized, that was their opinions not mine. Thats really how I developed my confidence & self esteem when I could trust myself & my opinion & decisions and finally had learned to trust my own decisions.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am married to my bestfriend who supports me through all my adventures, I have 4 amazing talented children and 2 son in-laws and a beautiful daughter-in-law and 5 beautiful grandchildren that are so much fun. Truly blessed with our family. I always wanted a big family to celebrate life.
I have always been a connector, I love helping people and making them look good & feel good.I first wanted to be a social worker, but I would of been to sensitive so became a Hair therapist,, it was very much the same except I did their hair I owned my own salon, at a really early age did platform hair and was a master trainer. It was such an incredible industry, truly my passion. My clients would come in to get their hair done, while figuring their life out, with my suggestions.
I loved it, and thought how could I help them when I wasn’t doing hair, so I started a women’s group, I did ask my men, they were not interested in sharing in a group, very much more private.
Well my group grew fast, this group was all about the brighter side of life and living your best life. Sharing to help someone else..
My group grew fast and I wanted to help more people, so I went to a radio station and asked them if I could do a motivational segment. They received so many calls,Here’s the funny thing I didn’t tell anyone in case it didn’t go well, I could slip in & out. Later that day I was driving with my husband and said Honey listen to this station
He was like that’s you, no not another thing, They got so many call , they asked me to be a host. I told them I don’t know anything about this, and they said just be you, hmm ok so I did. The next best career I didn’t realize I was already interviewing , I was also doing their hair, now doing the same without the hair. So exciting and rewarding having a voice for and in your community. What a great concept my voice can help so many and my show is The Kim Pagano Show “the brighter side of life& business I have been so blessed to have two careers, that have filled my passion.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My three things that have helped me, is having faith in mysef, ,you truly have to believe in yourself in your heart, because not everyone always has your best interest.
Even when you’re not feeling it, you have to fake it till you make it. Stand up for yourself. Be your own cheerleader Show up the way you want to be remembered.Dress for success.
Third and most important have fun, don’t take life & work so serious, this took me the longest. I wanted to be my best, and life happens, and you have to go on. If you fall down, pick yourself up dust yourself off and carry on.
They say if you love what you’re doing you never have to work a day in your life. This is so true.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Early on my parents, gave me a gift, that is I can do anything I put my mind & heart to. If I feel passionate and have a calling, I will never be able to give up on your calling, it’s that burning desire, I go for it. I believe that nothing is a coincident.
I have lost both of my parents,One of the hardest things I’ve had to go & grow through as they were both my cheerleaders. I also have to count my husband as my cheerleader, he always encourages me to go for it & and has supported me in all my endeavors and there’s been a lot. I have finally, learned to stand on my own feet and truly know I have a gift or a super power that I need to share to help others, and that’s where my business coaching comes in. So if you have a passion and something’s holding you back. Let me help you Be bold & live your best life, because remember this is not a dress rehearsal. Don’t. Leave any life on the table. I also started a Business Mixer that I introduce everyone, so no one leaves, without making connections.
