Meet Kimberly Hunter

We were lucky to catch up with Kimberly Hunter recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kimberly, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

I can tell you that I have the most fun when I am alone. Don’t get me wrong . . . I love to be social with friends and I love people. Music is the key for me. It connects me to everything. I always have it on in the car. I play music from my phone, various speakers and even the tv. I play music while I am working at home, while I am in my HOTWORX studio and while I am in the kitchen preparing food. It adds emotion, playfullness, energy and movement. I have my own full-on dance party every time I get ready for the day or to go out somewhere.

If I have music on, I can conquer everything and accomplish anything. I listen to different music at different times of the day and night. I make lists of everything I have to do for the day, week and month and the music gets me through all of the lists. Music makes life way more fun and it enhances my work and my mind.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

First and foremost, I am a mother of two redheads and the wife of an amazing guy and life partner. When I am not working on family, I have been a Wardrobe Stylist in the Fashion Industry for 16 years. I outfit women with amazing clothing so they feel and look their best. I have also been a musician for over 30 years floating in and out of different band projects.

In 2007, I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer as a young mother and wife. I studied and learned about functional medicine and I discovered the benefits of infrared on inflammation and toxins. Many years later, I stumbled across the HOTWORX Franchise where I could start a business and share the benefits with large numbers of people who are searching for optimal health.

Infrared boasts many benefits including detoxification, weight loss, stress reduction, anti-aging improved circulation and more. HOTWORX sessions include heat, infrared energy and exercise.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Perseverance is the most important quality to me. I could have given up on so many things when they got difficult. It can be very scary to take risks, and it feels hard to see them through. Having a support system is very important. It is easier when you can lean on people when things get tough.

Creativity is important as well. Imagination is part of obtaining the next goal for me. I imagine myself with the finished product or project so it becomes a reality.

Leadership is a very important skill. In order to build a successful product or business, you can’t do it alone. You need a team. You will have to lead people and be led by them. it is important to learn how to take direction and ask for help as much as it is to lead with confidence.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

The biggest challenge I have faced lately is growing through a plateau. Plateaus happen in business and there is a lot of work and discomfort that has to go into breaking down the next wall. There are always going to be things that come into play that we expect, but it’s the things that we don’t expect that we have to navigate through. It is easy to feel safe and stay stagnant but it is not healthy.
