We were lucky to catch up with Kimberly Sharon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
There is a light that burns within us. There have been times in my life where I thought that light was going to burn out. As I reconnected with my breath, the ember glew brighter. Practicing breathwork of all kinds from Somatic, Box Breathing, Lamaze, and others. Finding my own rhythm of breath that regulates my nervous system, I have been able to let go of expectation and flow more into ease of the present moment. Life is going to life. I can only grow from my own roots and those roots need watered. It is with living with more intention where my water comes from. It is the nutrients of breathwork/sound healing/reiki, hydration, eating the rainbow of fruits and vegetables, physical movement (whether be running the beach, weight training, yoga, dance, hiking), and prayer/meditation that keeps me resilient. And the best for last, my firey daughter that keeps me on my toes. 😉
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Photographer: Greetings love! I am Kimberly Sharon, owner and freelancer of Fresh Focus Media. My passion is capturing images, content, and digital design from the heart through the lens with a fresh focus for life! Whether it be for a performance, travel, family, business, or event, I bounce between connecting to people, product, and exploring the wonders of nature.
Holy Fire Reiki and Sound Treatments: I am delighted to be of service to the collective, providing Holy Fire Reiki & Sound Bowl Treatments. My hope is that my clients will go on a journey within themselves to let go of any stuck emotions/energies that do not serve their higher calling. That they can come home to their heart, and know that they have always been home. On an energetic level, I am using Life Force energy to align chakras, which helps in immune support, blood pressure control, pain relief, emotional grounding and more. Booking on location or in studio at Club Joyful in Venice, CA.
Performer: I am lead singer for ska/rock band Calypo’s Curse, based out of Orange County. A fun creative outlet that presented itself to me on my healing journey. With my love for SoCal, beach life and music, of course, destiny cooked up this sweet recipe of amazing people that I have the honor to jam and play with. Come check out our first show, this Saturday, Aug 11 at Supply and Demand in Long Beach, CA.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Ohana. My family is a rooted support system whether it be blood or chosen family. These are the people that have seen me in authentic form, and who have cheered me on in life. Having a healthy support system of people who inspire you to be your better self are the ones worth keeping around. There is no time for those who don’t see you or tempt you to do things that dim your light.
Getting out of my own way and letting God/Source/Higher Power write my script has been a life filled with abundance and gratitude. Humbling myself and praying on days I don’t want to pray or meditate. The contrary action in leaning away from my ego and connecting to God can be challenging, but oh so rewarding.
Staying in action whether it be service to the collective, my projects, exercise/mediation routine, motherhood routine. When I am idle I tend to lose balance. When I am taking a step forward, no matter how small, I am progressing toward a life beyond my wildest dreams.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. This book has been one I call back to whenever I feel a little off balance, usually it is my own mind making assumptions of some scenario. Rule number three: “Don’t make assumptions.” When I let go of the assumptions, I let go of the expectations that mind is creating. Connecting to the present moment and leading with heart creates a happier space, not just for me, but for the people around me too.
The Four Agreements
1. Be impeccable with your word.
2. Don’t take things personally.
3. Don’t make assumptions.
4. Always do your best.
