Meet King Quice

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to King Quice. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have King with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic comes from my father. He always emphasized the importance of hard work and perseverance. Watching him dedicate himself to his work and responsibilities taught me the value of putting in the effort, no matter the challenge. His example shaped how I approach everything I do, always striving to give my best.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m King Quice, an artist hailing from the vibrant city of Phoenix, Arizona. Over the past six years, I’ve been on an incredible journey in the music world, crafting sounds that resonate across genres. From the raw energy of Pop Punk to the infectious rhythms of Afro Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, and beyond, my work reflects a deep passion for exploring and blending different musical styles. This journey has led to millions of streams and several EPs that showcase my versatility and love for music. My latest releases, “My Darling” and “Flute in the Wind,” are just the beginning. As we look ahead, I’m thrilled to announce that my debut album, *Before the Diamonds*, will drop in mid-2025. This project represents the culmination of years of growth, creativity, and dedication, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been discipline, patience, and the willingness to take risks. Discipline was crucial in staying committed to my craft, showing up every day, and putting in the work, even when the results weren’t immediate. Patience helped me understand that success doesn’t happen overnight—great things take time, and the process is as important as the outcome. Taking risks allowed me to step out of my comfort zone, explore new sounds, and grow as an artist, even when the path was uncertain.

For artists in the early stages of their journey, I would advise taking the time to truly understand your overall goal and the challenges you’ll face in reaching it. Embrace the fact that it will take hard work and perseverance to overcome these obstacles. Stay disciplined in your efforts, be patient with your progress, and don’t be afraid to take calculated risks. It’s in those moments of uncertainty that you often find the greatest opportunities for growth.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed as a musical artist, it’s like being caught in a storm of thoughts and emotions, where everything feels chaotic and out of control. The pressure to create, perform, and meet expectations can build up, making it hard to find clarity.

To combat that, I turn to the very thing that brought me here—music. Sometimes I’ll play an instrument, freestyle, or just listen to my favorite tracks to reconnect with the love I have for what I do. I also break things down into smaller steps, focusing on one aspect of my work at a time so it doesn’t feel so daunting. Taking a break is essential too—whether it’s stepping outside, meditating, or simply giving myself space to breathe. I remind myself that it’s okay to slow down and that creativity thrives when I’m not forcing it. By finding that balance, I’m able to recenter myself and keep moving forward.
