Meet Kion Rose

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kion Rose. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Kion, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I found my purpose through trial and error, in the process of searching for an occupation that would bring me joy. At first, it was basketball. It was my first occupational love and I tried very hard over many years to make it become a big part of my life. But unfortunately, it did not work out. Some time passed and I found a love for music, and that’s the path I’ve been on ever since. But whether it be music or basketball, I believe my true purpose in life is to inspire others. I have been frequently told in the past how my actions have motivated others to do things similarly, and there is a special feeling of fulfillment when I hear someone’s story about how my actions have influenced them. My drive for going after the things I want in this life is noticeable and contagious. And that is the legacy I wish to lead.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Complete freedom and expression in the realm of sound is the core of Kion Rose’s artistry. Hypnotic melodies amalgamate with thought provoking lyricism to create some of the most diverse music on the market. The Nigerian American artist born in Saint Paul, Minnesota hopes to be a vehicle of inspiration to likeminded individuals who believe they were meant to be something greater. Formerly primarily a rap artist, he developed his sound over the years in order to truly manifest the ideas that were birthed in his mind, greatly improving his singing voice and his ability to perform in multiple genres, including R&B, Afrobeats, and more. Pairing such versatility with an idiosyncratic sonic and vocal execution results in a rare brand of artistry that is sure to captivate the masses. His 2022 single “I’m On The Way” has surpassed one million streams on Spotify, and also peaked at #45 on the iTunes chart in Switzerland for Hip-Hop/Rap. The song also gained the attention of one of the A&R Executives at Liberty Music PR. Kion Rose’s limitless vision is sure to make him a household name in the industry.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Self sufficiency, networking, and determination.

Being more self sufficient has not only saved me a ton of money, but it allowed me to learn skills I did not expect to have when I first started music. I record, mix, and master my own music now. I create the album covers. I shoot and edit my own social media content. These things are very important for any musician, and I like the fact that I’m in complete control over them.

Networking is also important. As a natural introvert, I can admit that I don’t network as much as I should. But in the spaces and times where I do, it is always beneficial, and it is a characteristic about myself that I have worked to improve upon over the years.

Determination is everything. Without it, you’re likely to quit before your time. I started doing music in 2017. 7+ years, with countless opportunities to have quit. But I’m still doing it because I believe in myself and I believe in my music and my purpose. I will keep doing it until I no longer can.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’d love to be able to work with more photographers and videographers for social media content. I’d also love to connect and work with marketing/promotion specialists to get my music heard in more places.

My email is [email protected], and my social media handle is “eyesonkion” everywhere.
