We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kira Salgado a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kira, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose by simply doing what I loved—over and over again, even when it took hard work. I didn’t have a perfect plan or a big team behind me. I just followed the things that made me feel alive during my free time—whether it was doing my nails, creating content, styling shoots, or building something from scratch. What started as hobbies evolved into a passion, and that passion ultimately became a purpose. I took the initiative to turn the things I was doing for fun into something real. I trusted that if I kept showing up for myself, something beautiful would come out of it—and it did. Being around the people I love makes it all 10 times better. Their support, energy, and belief in me remind me why I keep going. My purpose isn’t just about what I do, it’s about who I get to share it with. That’s what keeps me grounded and motivated to turn my dreams into a legacy.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi, I am Kira Skye Salgado. I am a business owner, model, actress, and creative artist. As of right now, I’m focused on expanding my work as a creative entrepreneur through both my nail brand, Nails by Kira Skye, and my editorial platform, Unforgettable Effect. Everything I do, whether it’s beauty or fashion, is rooted in storytelling, self-expression, and building platforms that empower others.
With Nails by Kira Skye, I offer luxury nail services, custom press-ons, and my all-natural Nourishing Nail Serum, designed to hydrate and restore nail and cuticle health. I specialize in long-lasting, high-quality sets that reflect unique creativity and style. What makes my nail brand special is the full experience; I’m not just doing nails, I’m helping people feel more confident and seen. I’m currently working on expanding into salon suites here in Atlanta, providing other beauty professionals with a safe and stylish space to grow their businesses. In the next few years, I also plan to launch a full nail supply line for professionals and everyday users.
On the editorial side, I recently launched Unforgettable Effect, a fashion and lifestyle magazine centered around bold visuals, real stories, and personal style. It’s a space not only for me to showcase my work and creative direction, but also to feature other entrepreneurs, artists, and visionaries. What’s exciting is that Unforgettable Effect is growing and soon, it’ll include a fashion line with timeless pieces that reflect my aesthetic. Soon, we will be accepting applications so others can promote their products, services, and creative work.
Outside of entrepreneurship, I’m actively growing my modeling and acting portfolio. I’ve walked in runway shows, participated in creative shoots, and recently began working in multiple major productions. Both modeling and acting allow me to show different sides of my creativity, and they connect me to new opportunities in the fashion and entertainment world.
What excites me most is knowing that everything I’m building started with just an idea and passion. I’m creating from the ground up, staying true to my vision, and using my story to remind others that their voice, creativity, and presence matter.
There’s so much more coming—from new collections to future collaborations—and I can’t wait to share more with the world.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are consistency, creativity, and self-belief.
Consistency
Even when I wasn’t sure if people were watching or supporting me, I kept showing up. Whether it was posting my nail work, promoting my brand, or practicing behind the scenes, I stayed committed. Consistency is what builds trust, momentum, and results over time. Don’t wait for the perfect moment to be consistent. Start small, show up regularly, and treat your work like it matters—because it does. Momentum builds from repetition.
Creativity
Being creative helped me stand out. Whether it’s a nail design, a shoot concept, or the layout of my magazine, my ability to think outside the box is what draws people in. I learned to use what I had, trust my vision, and make something beautiful even on a budget. Stay inspired. Use platforms like Pinterest, mood boards, music, or even real life to spark ideas. Don’t be afraid to try new things—your originality is your superpower.
Self-Belief
This one took time. For years, I doubted myself and downplayed my potential. But once I started to truly believe in what I had to offer—even when it wasn’t perfect—everything changed. That shift in mindset helped me take risks and grow. Believe in yourself even when no one else sees it yet. You don’t need outside validation to be worthy of success. Start with confidence, and let the world catch up.
If you’re early in your journey, my biggest piece of advice is to just begin. You’ll learn so much along the way. Stay open, stay humble, and stay focused—but never dim your light to make others comfortable. Grow at your pace, but don’t stop moving.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my mom ever did for me was teach me independence. As a single mother, she carried a lot on her own. Watching her work hard, handle everything, and still show up with love taught me more than words. Because of her, I learned how to figure things out on my own, stay grounded, and move with purpose. She always encouraged me to take initiative, to learn through experience, and to trust myself even when the path wasn’t clear. That mindset has shaped everything I do, from starting my business to chasing my creative dreams. Her resilience gave me the blueprint, and her love gave me the confidence to believe I could do it, too.
