Meet Kiwan Young

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kiwan Young a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kiwan, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My optimism comes from the things that are tangible for me to see and the things that I subconsciously dream about. I have a widespread of visions that occur to me. That is how I am able to be the things I want to be or do the things that I want to do without being quite there yet. Living in what I KNOW is going to happen better positions me for what’s to come good or bad. I Know achieving the status as a critically acclaimed producer is not easy, but I KNOW that I am able to get there by handwork, relationships, and persistence. Music taste is selective, but I KNOW that everyones yearns for relatable feeling it brings sonically. Gaining this type of optimism is not something that is just develop overnight but something that must be practiced and applied. Most of the time I am able to answer my own questions going based off of what I KNOW. KNOWING that I have the ability to put my best foot forward at all times makes that light at the end of the tunnel easier to get to.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Musically I intend on working with upcoming artist to strengthen my foundation and reach throughout Atlanta. The way I plan on achieving that is to continuously work with those who I am already in contact with while also gaining new contacts. Brick by Brick until my metorphoric house is strong enough to leverage. I Want to be in all lanes of music, And because I have such a diverse taste in music I want artist who come to me to know that you can sonically get from me pop, hiphop/r&b, country, rock, international, and alternative. I want the creation process limitless as I push my own limits.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

First the most important thing I’ve learn so far is literacy. Able to understand how something may or may not benefit you. Financial literacy is important to making sure cuts are fair and using the right outlets to get the things that belong to you. Research is fundamental! Remain Patient and persistent will eventually get you to the places you want. As I type this I am at the beginning of my career, but I know someday ill be able to look back and be grateful. REMAIN OPTIMISTIC.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I am looking for artists, managers, A&Rs, and producers who are well connected in the industry. People who GENUINELY CARE about opening doors for others who need light shined on them.
