We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Koat Records. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with koat below.
Hi Koat, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
Burnout hits everybody at some point — especially when you’re building something from scratch, wearing multiple hats, and pouring your soul into the grind. At K.O.A.T. Records, we overcome burnout by leaning on each other and staying grounded in why we started this.
Sometimes we just gotta step back, hit pause, and recharge. That might mean locking in with the crew and just vibing without any pressure — freestyling for fun, catching a game, hitting the beach, or just chilling without talking business. Creativity flows better when your mental’s right.
We also remind each other that rest isn’t weakness — it’s part of the process. We’ve learned it’s okay to reset, get your mind and body right, then come back hungrier. We don’t force inspiration — we live and let the moments around us refuel the art.
At the end of the day, we move with balance. This game is a marathon, not a sprint. As long as we stay locked in on the vision, take care of our health, and keep the bond strong, we can overcome anything — even burnout.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
We are K.O.A.T. Records — Kings of All Trades. What started as a group of artists with a shared vision has evolved into a full-blown movement. We’re more than just a record label — we’re a brand, a family, and a platform for real, raw, unfiltered talent. Every member of KOAT brings their own story, style, and skill set, and together we’re creating something that’s both gritty and groundbreaking.
Professionally, we’re focused on building a legacy — not just dropping music, but launching visuals, clothing, events, and everything that speaks to the streets and beyond. We live what we rap, and we rap what we live. What makes us special is that everything we do is built from the ground up. No shortcuts. No gimmicks. Just passion, pain, and power turned into art.
Right now, we’ve got some major things in motion. New singles and collaborations are dropping, including some heavy-hitter features and visuals that’ll shake up the scene. We’re also expanding our visual content — short films, music videos, behind-the-scenes looks into the KOAT lifestyle — and working on new merch drops for the real supporters who’ve been riding with us.
We’re also building toward a larger vision — events, shows, community outreach, and continuing to put on for those who don’t have a voice in this industry. At KOAT, it’s about ownership, independence, and impact.
So if you’re reading this, just know: we’re only getting started. The world’s about to see what happens when kings move with purpose — and the crown’s already ours

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, there are three things that truly shaped our journey as K.O.A.T. Records: consistency, loyalty, and vision.
Consistency – Talent gets you noticed, but consistency is what builds your name. Whether it’s dropping music, showing up for sessions, or pushing your brand — staying locked in over time is what separates the serious from the seasonal. Our advice: Don’t wait for motivation — create structure. Treat your craft like a job even when it doesn’t pay yet. Put in work daily.
Loyalty – In this industry, there’s a lot of fake energy and quick flips. We stayed solid with each other, even when the pressure hit. That loyalty built trust, and that trust kept us focused. If you’re early in your journey, build with people who believe in the long run — not just the moment. Loyalty multiplies when it’s real.
Vision – We always had a bigger picture in mind. Even when we didn’t have the resources, we had the mentality. We weren’t just trying to drop tracks — we were trying to build a brand, a legacy. For anyone starting out: Take time to define your “why.” Know what you stand for, who you speak for, and where you’re trying to take it. The clearer your vision, the harder it is for anything to shake you.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
As a team, K.O.A.T. Records has had to learn a lot on our own — trial, error, and experience taught us most of the game. But we’d be lying if we said we did it completely solo. There were a few key people and influences that helped shape our journey.
First off, each other. This team pushed one another through doubt, through losses, through burnout. We held each other accountable, sharpened each other’s skills, and kept the vision alive even when things got dark. That internal drive and brotherhood was the backbone.
Outside of that, it was the OGs from our neighborhoods, the ones who gave us game when we were young — not always in the cleanest way, but they showed us how to move smart, how to survive, and how to hustle with heart. That real-world knowledge you can’t learn in a classroom.
We also soaked up wisdom from independent artists and creators who paved their own way. Watching others build without a major label or cosign showed us it was possible. That inspired us to master not just the music, but the business side too — branding, visuals, ownership.
We didn’t have big industry mentors handing us anything — we learned through loyalty, hunger, and self-education. And we still apply that every day. The ones who helped us most were the ones who either believed in us early or challenged us to rise.
