Meet Kobi Reese

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kobi Reese. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kobi, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I believe that I was born to carry rock music into the future. From the time that I was a small child, my parents always had music playing in my home from a variety of different genres. I always loved listening to rock and begged my parents to buy me a drum kit. When I turned seven, they finally gave in and bought me drums and put me in drum lessons and that is where my musical journal began. Playing the drums came naturally to me and at nine, I began to sing which I also found a passion for. At the age of eleven, I began to write my own original music and I now have ten songs released on all music streaming platforms and will be releasing my first original album in the fall.

I began to realize that I was different from other musicians because my passion was so intense. I found that people do not only like to listen to music but they want to see a true “rock show”. I realized that my image and stage presence was just as important as the way my music sounds and I began to form the entire package that I needed to succeed. I found talented, young, dedicated musicians to form my band and we continue to light stages on fire throughout the country.

I am now recognized and have performed with many famous musicians in the music industry. I was invited to perform at KISS Cancer Goodbye and performed with Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick. I was invited to perform on the Monsters of Rock Cruise where I really began to feel like I will be a part of music history because everyone on the ship believes that I will be the future of rock.

My dream is to continue to write amazing rock music that will cross generations and allow me to carry rock to all future generations. I live a unique life for a fourteen year old… normal eighth grade kid by day and rock star in the evening and on weekends! I wouldn’t trade this life for anything in the world and will keep rock alive forever. I will just hold on tight because I know this is going to be a fun ride!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most impactful skills on my journey would definitely be determination, confidence and creativity.

I know that it is not an easy journey to become successful in the music industry, yet I know without a doubt that I will succeed. This industry has been like a roller coaster where things are looking up for moths and then something will happen to knock me back down again. I never let myself become discouraged and only use that rejection to make myself stronger and even more determined to reach my goals.

My confidence shines through from the moment that I step foot on the stage. I own the stage at each performance and let my confidence shine through with my outstanding stage presence and stage dynamics. Many seasoned professionals in the music industry comment on the way I shine each time I am fronting my band on the stage. Without confidence, it is difficult to captivate the audience and make them remember you.

I want my music to cross throughout many generations. In order to do this, I need to take the love I have in my heart for rock and roll and I need to add a more current sound to it so I can continue to captivate the current rock audience while also attracting the younger generation of music lovers. I need to think of creative ways to merge these genre’s into a unique sound that will allow me to have my music loved by all. I want to some day fill stadiums and have everyone in the audience singing my original music.

For people who are just starting out, the most important thing to remember is to never give up. The music industry is filled with many ups and downs but it is important to not let yourself give up just because something did not go the way you wanted it to. Stay humble and kind and be the person that other musicians would want to work with.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

My parents have been a significant component of my success in the music industry. They support my music career in every way possible. From the time I was a young child they have encouraged my love for music and have allowed me to pursue every opportunity that has come along through the years. They manage my music career as well as managing my band. It is a ton of work for them but they do it because we all agree that no manager is ever going to care about me as much as they do.

My Mom has learned to design all of my stage clothing and does an amazing job at it. Everyone will always ask where I get my clothing from and I am always so proud to say that my Mom makes everything. My parents book our shows, help with all social media, sell and ship my merch, organize our stage set up, arrange all of my musical training, manage our tour to Germany, arrange recording time with my producers and the other million things that go on every day.

We are a team and work together to make sure that all of my dreams come true.
