Meet Kori Wiggins

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kori Wiggins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kori, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Well, it started out with my parents. Growing up, I always saw my parents working hard to make a way for us. Now, I’d have to say it stems from multiple things; the desire to inspire those around me from my modeling, and wanting to provide the best education for the students I work with. Outside of modeling, I work as a special education teacher, providing educational services for students that learn best using different methods than general ed students.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Kori, also known as K. Voltaire in the model world. What’s special about what I do is that it’s modeling; so many things are interesting about it! The opportunities, people you meet, things you accomplish, some of which I wouldn’t have thought I’d accomplish. I remember when I traveled to New York for Fashion Week two years ago, and to my surprise, was able to appear on a billboard in Times Square which featured some work I made with a photographer from the area! That lit a fire in me that keeps me going. Currently, I’m focusing more on content creation, as well as other things that I’m working on behind the scenes that I plan on unveiling soon with the content I’m creating! One service I’ve been planning is styling, and I’m so excited for that.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Self confidence, the ability to communicate well with others, and the desire to take risk. There’s been times in my early years of modeling where I’ve been in rooms and subconsciously felt a step down from models; even though I had the skills, there were things I lacked. But utilize that; the lacking changes to opportunities to sharpen yourself. Never be afraid to shake a hand or two; one of them can open the door for you to take some opportunities that’ll ask you to take a leap of faith, like traveling to states for the first time, solo or not. I remember my first time traveling to my first out of state show in Atlanta, and how excited and nervous I was to get there. Got there, and it was an amazing time!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am always open to collaborate with any creatives, whether they be model, visual, designer, whoever utilizes their skills towards the medium. My main point of contact is through social media (Instagram) @_k.voltaire. My online portfolio is also in the link provided in my biography, if you’d like to see some of my previous works and shows! When working with me, let’s get creative with what is made!
